For 99% of the population to be fit, lose weight or achieve a health goal you do not need to treat certain foods like the plague.
You CAN eat ice cream, pizza, nachos - whatever it is you want and still shed pounds. And if your current “diet” doesn’t let you - I’m sorry.
Truly I am. Severe restriction can cause a heck of a lot of stress, is difficult to maintain, does not guarantee results and to be completely honest, SUCKS.
If you’re currently struggling with a strict nutrition regime, I get you. I did it - for YEARS. During that time I was ridiculously unhappy, had a horrible relationship with food and didn’t actually see any progress. Basically it was a lot of stress - for NOTHING.
Severe food restriction is not the answer for fitness or weight loss. Balance, and understanding how to fuel your body is.
If you want the ice cream, eat it. You are not “cheating” yourself. You can easily adjust the rest of your day to make sure your body gets what it needs ✨

My trainer talked this morning a lot about finding balance in life. This week I started my nursing career and worked full time hours. A year ago, I would have just focused on my job and left self care for later. But this week I got up at 6am everyday and worked out. I spent half an hour every morning listening to worship music which calmed me before going into the clinic. I felt like I found balance, and waking up today on my day off I was actually thinking about how excited I am for Monday to go back to work and continue working on my health and wellness each morning. CLASS: Low Flow Lyra
Prerequisite: must have taken at least 1 beginner lyra class.
This class focuses on fluidity and transitions in a low-set Lyra, using the apparatus almost as a dance partner. There will be some lyrical inspired floor work, as well as sequences in the Lyra. Sequences will be done on spin, and students are recommended to refrain from eating 1 hour before class begins to avoid nausea.

These people have been both revered and persecuted, and yet willfully and often secretly, they continue to practice and perfect their crafts.

Honestly there are not enough hours in the day to be locking yourself into ANYTHING long term that you don’t enjoy.
And that includes a workout routine.
If you aren’t enjoying your fitness program one of two things are bound to happen.
1. You’ll quit right away because #lifestooshort
2. You’ll push through your workouts because #health
but resent every minute of it and quit slightly further down the road.
Bottomline, if it’s fun, it isn’t sustainable.
Now that’s not to say every second will be cloud 9, but you have to love the process, the end goal. You have to love it enough to want to push through the tough parts.
Consistent fitness improvements are NOT built on fad diets and workout challenges.
Lasting results are a lifestyle change. And if it’s going to be your new lifestyle, I don’t know about you, but I’d personally prefer to enjoy it 😜
There’s a training style out there for EVERYONE, it’s just a matter of finding it.

Improve your pull ups!
One of the most common things people ask me is how to improve their pull ups. In particular, you ladies out there seem to think it’s impossible for you to be able to do pull ups. Think again.
Here are some tips on how you can improve your pull ups:
• Start with banded pull ups, assisted pull up machines are okay but the bands challenge your core more and do a better job of replicating the real deal.
• Focus on form. Far too many attempt to do pull-ups using their shoulders instead of their much stronger lats. Keep your shoulder depressed and focus on pulling your chest up to the bar.
• Frequency is key. The more you practice the better you will get, seems obvious but it’s true. Even if you can only do 1 pull up, every time you go to the gym try to do 2. Once you can do 2 shoot for 3. Don’t just practice your pull ups on back day. Do it every day. If you have the luxury of a pull up bar at home, I challenge you to do pull ups every single time you walk past it.
• Weighted Pull Ups. Even if you can only do 4 or 5 body weight pull ups. Introduce weighted pull ups, maybe you can only get 1 or 2 reps but people often neglect to strength train when it comes to pull ups. Add 5-10lbs and do 1-3 reps. When you go back to body weight it will feel a lot easier!
• Strengthen your biceps(You too ladies). Your biceps are a secondary mover in the pull-up, strengthening them will help make your pull ups stronger.

Want to improve your deadlift? If you answered “yes” or what the f*ck is a deadlift 🥴 then this post is for you!
One of the “big 3,” the deadlift is a compound powerlift with a lot of benefits for the muscles of your back and entire body. There are many variations of the deadlift, but here I’ve highlighted 6 ways to improve your conventional deadlift:
1)Avoid positioning your hips too high. You want them to sit lower than your shoulders, but higher than your knees.
2)Avoid squatting your deadlift. You want to position your armpit directly above the side-profile of the barbell.
3)Don’t let your shoulders collapse. Maintain active shoulder blades and a proud chest.
4)Save the shrugs, keep the shoulder blades down and active.
5)Keep your knees strong and wide. Push them out against your arms at the bottom of your pull.
6)Avoid hyperextending at the top of your pull. Simply squeeze the glutes instead.
