Their classic crispy chicken is definitely my favourite of the lot 💕, where the exterior is fried to the perfect crisp while the meats remain juicy & moist inside. 💯 The chicken is also well-marinated & seasoned, making this an addictive treat! 😋😋😋 The Colonel Burger consists a simple chicken fillet (made with 100% chicken breast) with mayo & lettuce 🥬 sandwiched between seeded buns. A very simplistic burger. 👌🏻
Their crisp golden fries were decent but I personally prefer their Cheese 🧀 Fries, doused with creamy jalapeno cheese sauce, mayo & spring onions. Can’t go wrong with their classic mashed potato - a taste of childhood! ❤❤❤ Used to love it when I was young (now still!) & had it almost everyday when I had my wisdom tooth extracted! 😂

You’re welcome. 😝 Ok guys, I’m a sucker for anything that’s fragrant & spicy! (香辣) and 蛙小侠 located at 南宁北部湾 is sure to awaken your tastebuds. A popular franchise in 广西, 蛙小侠 serves up 干锅牛蛙 which is basically a clay pot of 田鸡 with spices & veggie over an open fire. That way the flavors gets stronger and tastier over time as you enjoy your meal ... 😍😝 .
One of the really unique dish we’ve had is their Marinated Century Quail Egg! 😱 You know how century eggs have a 骚味? 🥴 NOPE. This century quail egg has all the yums factor less off the 骚味, a great starter dish! We also ordered their 功夫拌面(mild spicy) & 凉拌鱼皮 (medium spicy) These tantalizing bold flavors really opened our appetite to attack our main course. *ribbit*
For Mains we ordered 2 干锅. The 青椒牛蛙 & the 蒜蓉牛蛙. One spicy & the other aromatic & garlicky. I would highly recommend to order 2 pots if you have 6-8 pax, that way you could have more variety as well! ❤️ I’m starting to fall in love with 南宁’s cuisine more and more and you can be sure to see more of their cuisine here! If you've been following along on my holiday food related stresses, I have made a great discovery!
This morning I saw a video by @natacha.oceane
that would have made such a huge difference if I had seen it a week ago! She puts herself through a little experiment where she ate an extra 1000 calories every day for a week and reduced her exercise to simulate being on vacation. Throughout, she also talks through the science on fat gain, bloating and muscle loss when you go are taking a break from your regular routine.
For sure one of the reasons why I got so stressed was because I felt like I was putting weight back on so quickly - weight that I had put a lot of effort into getting rid of these last few months! Now I realise that a lot of that was bloat and that even though I weigh more now than before I left, I'm fairly sure that things will balance out perhaps within a few days (I'm going to share the full update next Wednesday). I'm still learning about my body, how it works, what it wants/needs and how to best look after it. Now I'm just interested to see what happens so I can go into my next holiday with more confidence!
Breakfast: chocolate protein oats with blueberries, raspberries and peanut butter (4pts)
Snack: mini peach and roasted chickpeas (1pt)
Lunch: toast, butter, egg and avocado (4pts)
Snack: another mini peach and nuts (1pt)
Dinner: roasted veg and ravioli (4pts)
Dessert: frozen berries, flan and dark choc (3pts)
Total: 17pts or 1700 calories
Hot pot dinner at Hai Di Lao and I must cook the eggs and instant noodles. Yummy!
