Back day was a success! We got to the gym rather late, because we were literally gutting our house all day! Neural charge and gun show before beginning the final 12 weeks of my strength program. Neural charge : to amp up the nervous system for taking heavier shit in the coming days. The concept calls for explosive reps in the range of 1-5 with each rep done with 100% explosion. If you feel at a stage where the rep is slowing down, cut out the reps. Gun show : keep up with pump and burn plus some vanity isn't always bad. Currently in week 1 of the final 12 weeks of "the predator". Muscles should be loaded through a range of motion that also allows a deep stretch. The exercise should have the longest moment arm at the midpoint of the joint’s range of motion for ⬆️ active tension. Reaching the stretched position is also important, which may require another exercise for multi-joint muscles, to ⬆️ passive tension. Compounds tend to work best for single-joint muscles and isolation for multi-joint ones. The machine vs. free weight or open-chain vs. closed-chain distinction does not matter. Stay within 6-12 reps. This achieves high threshold motor unit fatigue efficiently, as long as approaching failure on most sets. If you challenge yourself to increase the load within this range, rep speed does not matter, though you should feel in control. Perform as many weekly sets as needed to keep growing, which fatigues the Type II fibers most responsible for size. This means somewhere between 10-20 sets per muscle group as an intermediate trainee. Consider more as you advance. Rest as long as needed between sets, though at least 90-120 seconds may work best. Short rest periods invites endurance-related and central fatigue that may limit progress. Frequency matters little. Training more often may help if your weekly set count climbs high. More weight and more sets, within the moderate rep range, is what matters. Variety beyond what is described here isn’t necessary. Bodybuilding is an art in deciding what muscles to develop versus which ones to avoid. Classic bodybuilders ignored the upper traps, for example, to promote the illusion of shoulder width. ♡PRE-WORKOUT/POST-WORKOUT♡ What does it all mean? When should I have it? What does it do? Let’s simplify the concept of eating before and after your workout. ➡️Pre-Workout (>1 hour before) 1. Carbs!! increases blood glucose level for instant energy. {Oats are a great option} 2. High Protein to give your muscles the amino acids needed to sustain and refuel as you workout {eggs} 3. Water 💦💦 Pre-Workout is typically my breakfast, a balance of carbs to keep me full and protein to help my muscles. ➡️Post-Workout (<1 hour after) 1. High Protein {supplements, fish, yogurt} 2. Fast-digesting carbs {veggies, bananas} 3. More water 💧 Goals are to restore energy and aids in building muscle tissue. I am typically hungry within 30 mins after, and use my post workout meal as an excuse to up my protein intake for the day!! 🌟Favorite Post-Workout meal currently is my salted caramel shake with the Vega Protein Powder. 👅 This contains lots of veggie protein and I add a banana 🍌 for my carbs (increases blood sugar). Happy Tuesday Fam! 🤘🏼 So, Sunday night, I started to feel kinda off...& more than the usual “Sunday Jitters”. I looked at J and said I really don’t want to go to work tomorrow, like really really don’t want to (which is odd bc I rly love my job). Cue to Monday morning, I woke up and started to feel even weirder. Then I started to throw up (ew, sorry, but whatev) and texted my boss I’d be late. She ended up telling me to stay home so I promptly passed out till 3. Got coffee, folded like six loads of laundry, and started to feel better around 7 pm 🤷🏼‍♀️ Then it hit me like a pile of bricks. I had one of the worst anxiety ridden days of my life. I couldn’t have worked if I tried. I couldn’t eat, even tho I was hungry. Couldn’t drink water and just wanted to lay still in the darkness. So I promised myself that I’d go workout today, drink my greens, eat my meal prep and be kinder to myself. I wasn’t completely out of the woods today, but overall, it was a better day 🙂 . . . Lower Body Workout 🏋🏻‍♀️. Here there are only half of my workout. First Exercise: is a squat with barbell (BB), I started with low weight and every set I increased by 5 pounds (i did 4 sets of everything), make sure that your core is tight, chest up and don’t let the knees go in, push them out slightly. Second Exercise: is a walking lunges with dumbbells (DB), here I only incresed the weight twice, same by 5 pounds. VULNERABILITY POST: Same stomach, same day. Instantaneous transformation via posture and muscle control. . Losing over 136 lbs has had an impact on this powerful body of mine - mostly in positive ways, but some leave a bit to be desired. Loose skin is a common side effect to extreme weightloss, and even though I anticipated it, it still took me a bit by surprise because it seemed to appear overnight. . This vantage point is the extreme worst version of my stomach - deliberately so. I'm actually in pretty good shape skin wise all things considered, but I want to be authentic and open on this journey of mine and that means showing the not so great stuff too. . For the record: I'll take loose skin any day over not being a healthier version of myself.
