Static Lunges in a Smith Machine are a perfect way to hit your quads, hamstrings and glutes in one movement! Foot placement is everything in this movement, and varying where your feet are as well as the distance between them will have an impact on which muscles are activated more!
My left hip is a little tight so I struggled a bit with my right leg to get a smooth motion
Going heavyish with constant tension (no pausing at the top or bottom of the movement) will set your legs on fire 🔥🔥 For me personally, I feel squats are somewhat overrated in terms of glute activation, so give any form of lunge a try for overall leg and glute development.
Whether it be walking lunges with a barbell or dumbbells, static lunges in a smith machine, or even a single-legged leg press, adding them into your leg routine will do you wonders!
Keep in mind that not everyone's lunges or squats will look the same, even with perfect form. This is simply because people have different structures and frames, and of course moblilty and coordination can play a big part too. So it's up to you or your PT to figure out which is the perfect way for you to do each exercise
