Throwback to March 2018 where I took part in the IAAF World Championships at half marathon distance (21km/13.1 miles) in Valencia, Spain. Finished that race in 01-40-56. What an evening that was. Will never forget that. #running #fitness #training #workout #kineorun #stevenage #stevenagestriders #runningbuddies #marathontraining #fitnessmotivation #runnersofinstagram #igrunners #runfree #runhappy #beatyesterday #runlove #everybodyrun #ukrunchat #runnersworld #runningcommunity #me #ukrunners #londonrunners #throwback #iaafworlds #iaafvalencia2018
MARLOW, UK PARKRUN - NOT COMPLETED Drove all the way to Marlow in Buckinghamshire this morning and forgot to check out their Facebook page. The event was canceled yesterday due to a tree blocking the route on the thames path. However two runners turned up, both new to running and can just manage to run a 5km. So I took them out on a training run down the Thames Path (to which two men have removed the tree just before 9am) and back through the beautiful countryside. The lady with us in her 50's did three miles in her quickest time ever with me. Im very happy I could help out others and encourage them to run outside an amazing free event. Miles: 3, KM: 4.9, time: 34-30, Average Pace: 11:28 per mile, KCAL Burnt: 485. #running #fitness #training #workout #kineorun #stevenage #stevenagestriders #runningbuddies #marathontraining #fitnessmotivation #runnersofinstagram #igrunners #runfree #runhappy #beatyesterday #runlove #everybodyrun #ukrunchat #runnersworld #runningcommunity #me #ukrunners #londonrunners

Back in the UK after a week of light training on the beautiful island of Corsica in France where I managed to do a lot of core work on my arms. Did a four mile run this morning to get the running miles in and for a session I missed earlier in the week. Feeling frigging awesome. I did the same four miles about ten days ago and I managed to knock a minute of my time (but I wasnt timimg myself, I noticed this after the workout and this was an easy run, not a fast session!). Feeling strong, my lower back is slowly aligning back to where it should be and my heel held out well after my second dose of minor 'doctor' work yesterday. There is hope...believe! 51 days until Athens marathon. Miles: 4, KM: 6.43, time: 33-16, Average Pace: 8:18 per mile, KCAL Burnt: 614. Splits: Mile 1: 8:05, Mile 2: 8:20, Mile 3: 8:24, Mile 4: 8:21. #running #fitness #training #workout #kineorun #stevenage #stevenagestriders #runningbuddies #marathontraining #fitnessmotivation #runnersofinstagram #igrunners #runfree #runhappy #beatyesterday #runlove #everybodyrun #ukrunchat #runnersworld #runningcommunity #me #ukrunners #londonrunners
Hi guys, sorry for being quiet at the moment, spending the week on the beautiful island of Corsica in France and having a social media detox. Doing light runs on the beach to keep my fitness up before the proper training commences again on Friday when I am back home in London. Hope everyone is ok and sending you all the positive vibes and love. #travel #corsica #visitcorsica #corse #traveltheworld #instatravel #corsicaisland #travelblogger #natgeotravel #igerscorsica #beautifulnature #naturephotography #passionpassport #wonderful_places #corsicanlife #corsica_focus_on #igerscorsica_natura #corsicamylove #bestvacations #running #fitness #fitnessmotivation #stevenagestriders #stevenage #kineorun #igrunners #londonrunners

Easy run this morning, an extra session which I think I needed. Good way to get rid of the stress and set myself up for the day. Felt more comfortable today but as I hit the road again on Thursday, I hope to keep up the training. Foot and back held out well. Two months until the Athens Marathon. Miles: 3.5, KM: 5.63, time: 30-32, Average Pace: 8:44 per mile, KCAL Burnt: 541. GOOD TO BE BACK Back in training today ahead of the Athens Marathon in November. Back held out and will have the alignment problem for a while yet but its ok to run whilst trying to realign the problem areas. Also good to be running after last Tuesday's minor foot surgery and that held out as well today. After a crappy three week period I have to say that after today's run, I didn't feel all that tired and the fitness was kind of still there. Now its a case of trying to recover whats lost, get the miles in the bag, shift some bloody weight which has been put on the last few weeks (but not as bad as I thought) and start focusing on Athens whilst sorting out the injuries/aligning. Miles: 4, KM: 6.43, time: 34-14, Average Pace: 8:34 per mile, KCAL Burnt: 613. Splits: Mile 1: 8:28, Mile 2: 8:22, Mile 3: 8:29, Mile 4: 8:50 #running #fitness #training #workout #kineorun #stevenage #stevenagestriders #runningbuddies #marathontraining #fitnessmotivation #runnersofinstagram #igrunners #runfree #runhappy #beatyesterday #runlove #everybodyrun #ukrunchat #runnersworld #runningcommunity #me #ukrunners #londonrunners

Finally!!! - took the plunge and went to my first zero to 5k session with the Stevenage Striders in the hope they can help me get back to my former running fitness, was doing ok solo but it was so nice to have a group of people to run with, especially as I am still learning the area and the nights are drawing in! Shall definitely be going back for more next week!! . Tonight’s session - 1 minute run/1 minute walk at your own pace #zeroto5km #findingmyrunningmojoagain #stevenagestriders #running #runnersofinstagram #operationgetfitagain #startright #takingitbacktobasics

Stevenage Striders Press Release – 15th July 2018 Marathon Action. Chris Leigh took on his 48th marathon on Sunday when he completed the Hannington Hike. The run started from the edge of Wellingborough and participants had to follow route instructions to navigate around a 27 mile off road route. Temperatures reached 32 degrees and with little shade the going was tough. The three check points/drink stations were much needed. Chris was particularly pleased with his finishing time of 5 hours 26 minutes, a season best for an off-road marathon distance. The runners who have been training with the striders recently on the 0 to 5km programme, finished the 10 week course by doing the Parkrun in Fairlands Valley lakes. We also had some parkrun pbs and a few striders giving a helping hand. The club would like to say a big thank you for the support to the gus finishing the FREE course and all those helping out at the Parkrun. Without you, the event couldnt go ahead.
