WELWYN FESTIVE 5 COMPLETED - PERSONAL BEST Not feeling 100% this morning but managed to complete the Welwyn Festive 5 mile race (8km). Also managed to get a personal best time in this event but I have to admit, I think this was my second five mile event since 2013. Not a keen fan on running on pavements, going up and down kerbs etc but managed to just hold the pacing (after a quick start which feels like I gone backwards and need to work on that again but after 500 meters, managed to do the same pace round the course). Now back at home, resting. Good morning of training but I think I need a nap now. Time: 36-50 Position: 35th out of 206 runners - 4th Strider to finish. Miles: 5 Km: 8, Average pace: 7:23, Kcal burnt: 744. Mile 1: 7.05, Mile 2: 7:13, Mile 3: 7:29, Mile 4: 7:35, Mile 5: 7:27. #running #fitness #training #workout #kineorun #stevenage #stevenagestriders #runningbuddies #marathontraining #fitnessmotivation #runnersofinstagram #igrunners #runfree #runhappy #beatyesterday #runlove #everybodyrun #ukrunchat #runnersworld #runningcommunity #me #ukrunners #londonrunners
PARKRUN 142 COMPLETED - STEVENAGE, UK AGGGHHHH, so frigging annoying. I came into todays 5km (3.1 miles) Parkrun with my mind set to go for it and try and do the same pace all the way around the course to see where my body is at the moment. My pacing was a little bit all over the place (which was probably a bit expected) but the woodland area of the Stevenage course really cheesed me off. Going from 7:20 pacing to 8:45 pacing for that section (TWICE!) really buggered me up and I couldn't get going again for a couple of minutes afterwards. Also the ground was so slippery in that section and with all the tree roots, it was safety first with me. Whats even more cheesed me off was my result. Yes, I got my fastest Parkrun 5km time since June when I was in Richmond, BC, Canada (just three seconds of that) but also three seconds off my course best at Stevenage. That was so annoying. However there are positives to take away, I am getting stronger, mentally getting back into it, weight is shifting a little and no niggles to report (2018 is going to go down with me as the year of the niggles!). Will get there. Work in progress. Time: 22-30, Miles: 3.1, Km: 5, Position: 20th out of 237 runners, Average pace: 7:17, Kcal burnt: 459. #running #fitness #training #workout #kineorun #parkrun #parkrunuk #loveparkrun #stevenage #stevenagestriders #runningbuddies #marathontraining #fitnessmotivation #runnersofinstagram #igrunners #runfree #runhappy #beatyesterday #runlove #everybodyrun #ukrunchat #runnersworld #runningcommunity #me #ukrunners #londonrunners
Today so far has been excellent. Short core workout and cycling session done. Then a gentle 5 mile jog in the heavy rain as I had so much energy in me today. Trip to Banff, Canada booked for new year. Bring on the snow! New hotel review posted on the new website today. Now attending a photoshoot. Loving today so far. 🤗🤗🤗 have a great day guys. Sending you all the positive vibes. Easy run this morning before work. After the crap month of November is now done and dusted time to get this body moving. Shorter run then I planned as I overslept after yesterdays journey back from Belgium. Core workout afterwards completed and a light cycling session to work later on. Feeling alive now. PARKRUN 141 COMPLETED - STEVENAGE, UK Yesterday was the clean break, cutting off all ties with my previous place, etc, and to start a fresh today, I was back at my 'home' parkrun in Stevenage to gain my fastest Parkrun 5km time in five months (to which I think I only put 80% effort in today). Good to get some striding work in today and a bit of cycling. Felt good, felt stronger than I have been recently, mentally strong but I believe I can be stronger. Training has been up and down the last four weeks so feel a bit larger than I have been but good job I only had four pints of beer in that time! Now back in training full time, just cant wait to keep training. No niggles. New chapter in my life, lets do this! Time: 22-46 Position: 33rd out of 237 runners. Miles: 3.1 KM:5, Average Pace: 7:25 per mile, Calories burnt: 455. #running #fitness #training #workout #kineorun #stevenage #stevenagestriders #runningbuddies #marathontraining #fitnessmotivation #runnersofinstagram #igrunners #runfree #runhappy #beatyesterday #runlove #everybodyrun #ukrunchat #runnersworld #runningcommunity #me #ukrunners #londonrunners #parkrun #parkrunuk #loveparkrun

Stevenage Striders Handicap 10km The club’s second handicap 10k was held on Sunday 28/10/2018. Runners were given a target time based on current form with the slower runners starting first and the quickest runner last. With the handicap system the winner of the race is the runner who beats their target by the largest margin. The race started with the first runners setting off at 9:30am. The route took them to the northern side of Stevenage football ground, across the Fairlands Valley showground before doing a circuit of Fairlands Valley lakes and retracing the route back through Ridlins Wood to the finish. Whilst it was cold, the general conditions for running were good and this produced good times. First home was Charlotte Leigh beating her target time by a massive 10 minutes and 51 seconds to finish in a personal best of 80:39. Second was Sandra Howes (57:47) and third Tracy Norris (82:22), finishing just 17 seconds ahead of Rachel Hall. Charlotte said after the race to the press: ‘That was my first 10k race and I was pleased with my pace over the course. I was so pleased to have beaten my target by so much! Great course with support all the way around.’ The fastest man on the day was Ollie Garbas in 40:19 and the fastest lady Tracy Bullot in 50:34.
