Practice makes perfect, and there’s no better place to practice my Utthita Hasta Padangustasana than here 😌 Baby bro and I had a little stretch session on the balcony of our air b&b after being cooped up in the car for hours. He took this for me as a progress picture, and I decided to post it because this is literally the one pose I have been trying to nail since I started doing yoga. I have a long way to go, but I’m on my way!
For me, yoga is a spiritual discipline that we’ve borrowed from a beautiful culture, for which I have the utmost respect.
For me, yoga is a very personal journey, so posting about it is really out of my comfort zone... but I’m pretty proud of how far I’ve come, so I felt like I wanted to share. Maybe it’s France’s beautiful breeze and sunshine that’s inspiring me to do so 💭 Whatever it is, I am welcoming it. 🧘🏼♀️
I used to be pretty critical and hard on myself. I got easily frustrated when I couldn’t do certain poses, because I felt like I “should be able to do that”. But I know my limitations now (home gurl’s got loose knee caps), and I accept myself and acknowledge that my journey is my own, and I don’t need to compare myself to others. 🧘🏼♀️
I take time to celebrate the poses that I can do, and the progresses I’ve made. I accept that there are some things I can’t do, and might not be able to do for a long time (or at all). And that’s ok. We all have our own journeys. At the end of the day, my practice is my own. It inspires me, grounds me, calms me, and makes me feel full inside. And that’s what I’m after. 🧘🏼♀️
