transformation challenge day 8 - LAST DAY: it begins and ends with what you eat
Dieting is such a maze - from intermittent fasting, to keto, to juice cleanses it can feel like every where you turn there is someone trying to sell you their meal plan and it’s so easy to get lost. The basics though always come down to if you want to lose weight you need to be in calorie deficit (building muscle is another topic and often requires calorie surplus) - how you create that deficit is really up to you...sorry for the brutal honesty in the repost #sorrynotsorry
I don’t want to write about diet too much because there are many many smarter people than me who have scientific articles published on the topic and I encourage you to go read them. Some things I have learned through my journey:
🍎 1200 calories is hardly enough for anyone - fitting in with the sustainable message above - don’t buy into this. Things I used to do: skip breakfast, eat a lean cuisine for lunch and some days be so far under calories. Starving yourself is not necessary!!🙅🏻♀️🙅🏻♀️
🍏 I needed a basic understanding of what macro and micro nutrients are. Especially ladies sometimes have a fear of protein but it’s so critical to building muscle - and the myth of ‘too much protein’ has been busted in several scientific articles. 🍎 Be balanced ⚖️- a cheat meal will not kill you but just consider how it fits into your larger picture and goals. There are also still some trigger foods I just avoid - looking at you gummy bears🐻. Carb loading the day before leg day can be pretty awesome too 💁🏻♀️
🍏 Pay attention to how I am feeling after eating foods - with this close consciousness, I learned after eating certain foods I really felt like 💩. 🍎 Have an approx plan of what you will eat in day/week - it’s when I was tired or lazy and didn’t have this plan it was easy to fall into just eating out or grabbing whatever was convenient
