If we all lived in the past, we’d never know the excitement of the future.
Change can be scary. It can be unknown, unexpected, unwanted even. It can be very hard to accept, and many spend so much of their time trying to prevent it from happening.
Is that a waste of time though?
Potentially. Like with anything, there are exceptions, but I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, and so although I’ve not always been under the impression that change is good, and neither am I saying that it’s easy, but it can be necessary. It’s not all bad.
Change can be good. It can be full of opportunities, new experiences, it could bring you happiness that you never knew existed. Embracing change can often be the most beneficial thing you can do, because you’re more likely to adapt to it more quickly than if you desperately try to cling onto the past.
I spent too long stuck in a mindset, an illness, a way of ‘surviving’ that I was scared to let go of, because to me, it felt safe, but I was blinded to how toxic it really was.
Fast forward to now though, and I can safely and quite happily say that a lot has changed. A LOT. And am I better off for it? Hell yeah. I wouldn’t trade my life or the people in it for anything. Our pasts shape us, but our futures create us. So make the most of what you’re lucky enough to have right now. Live in the present and enjoy every moment. Sometimes we don’t realise just how lucky we are.
