➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ ➖➖ ➖ 📅 Date: Saturday 24 March 2018
⏰ Time: 1:30 pm
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ ➖➖ ➖ 📍Meeting Point:
The York Column - at the intersection of Monument Green and Thames Street, right opposite the Pizza Express. ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ ➖➖ ➖ 🗺Route:
From the York Column, either via The Ship Yard or Dorchester Road we walk towards the river, cross the small bridge to the private Whittet’s Ait island and then back to the mainland via the narrow picturesque streets dotted with some beautiful cottages and riverside houses towards the small Weybridge marina by The Minnow and see where the river Thames meets river Wey with beautiful views. We walk past the Ladies’ Rowing Club and the Lawn Tennis Club towards the famous historic D’Oyly Carte island to photograph the atnospheric Eyot House on the island. Then back to Whittet’s Ait island crossing to Thames Lock and see the picturesque Lock House and continue along Portmore Park by the most beautiful canalside walk where you will have plenty to photograph.
At the end of the waterside walk we come to the famous old bridge over river Wey (yes this is where the town takes its name from) and where the silhouette of the town in the background is magnificent to photograph. Crossing the bridge we come back into the heart of the old town with many cute shops and eateries. ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ ➖➖
☕️🍰We have arranged with the town’s popular organic artisan cafe @aromasartisancafe
where we can have coffee/tea/juices and cakes. Pssst they also sell alcohol. To those attending we will give a a code which can be used for 20% discount during our visit.
Note: Visit England has kindly offered to pay for coffee/tea and cake or a beer for each attendant. On the day, you will need to liaise with the organisers to claim this at Aromas.
