A favourite passage from the book I am currently reading, 'People of the Book'- Geraldine Brooks. -"You", he continued, grabbing my wrist. "All of you, from the safe world, with your air bags and your tamper-proof packaging and your fat free diets. You are the superstitious ones. You convince yourself you can cheat death, and you are absolutely offended when you learn that you can't. You sat in your nice flat all through our war and watched us, bleeding all over the TV news. And you thought, 'How awful!' and then you got up and made yourself another cup of coffee". I flinched when he said that. It was a pretty accurate description.- The passage is so beautifully put, Brooks has a brilliant way of instilling empathy within her readers or she does well at challenging the way her readers reciprocate their emotions. Her writing are all together electrifying, provocative and vivid. This book is about war and love, and is written from an Australian perspective, a book conservator who is working on a medieval Haggadah for the UN. The book is a hybrid of short story telling and a novella. Whilst the reader learns about the protagonist's narrative, the reader also gets transcended in and out of history which captures the maltreatment of the Jewish people through the Spanish Inquisition, book burnings of the pope's Inquisition, the Austro-Hungarian occupation and the Holocaust.
It is novels like 'People of the Book', that teaches us compassion, heighten our moral imagination and inspire us to have an intellectual dialogue within ourself. And this is why I get so engrossed with books.
"Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." -1 Corinthians 13:4-7

"Serif, orang paling terpelajar yang pernah ditemuinya, juga satu-satunya orang yang tak pernah membuatnya merasa bodoh sedikit pun."
—People of the Book, hlm. 118
Hello, booklovers! What's up?
"People of the Book" yang bergenre historical fiction (fiksi sejarah) ditulis oleh mantan koresponden 'The Wall Street Journal' pemenang Pulitzer (sebuah penghargaan bergengsi di dunia). Sedangkan "The Life We Bury" merupakan novel debut bergenre suspense-mystery peraih sejumlah penghargaan
Sejauh ini (on progress reading), aku merasakan keunggulan kedua buku sehingga pantaslah jika mendapat 'label' tersebut. "People of the Book" berfokus pada analisis dan konservasi naskah Ibrani misterius: Haggadah Sarajevo. Sedangkan "The Life We Bury" butuh kejelian, pemahaman psikologis, dan ketahanan mental untuk situasi 'menjijikkan' a.k.a 'disturbing' pembunuhan tingkat pertama hehe...
Ditunggu^^

Explanation of "THERE IS NO GOD WORTHY OF WORSHIP EXCEPT ALLAH & PROPHET MUHAMMAD PEACE BE UPON HIM IS THE FINAL MESSENGER OF ALLAH"
To feel the might of the Supreme being
vibrate through my deepest vein
that hurts when I speak blasphemy
in my eyes that want to look at pure
beauty in its pristine form.
Inside every strand of hair that jumps
when I veil them away from attention,
How then can I deny your existence?
YOU my Lord are not as vicious as
the Holy books suggest
somebody who sits atop a throne
and enjoys witnessing people burn
in the deepest pits of hell.
YOU are the manifestation of love,
compassion and purity.
The last hint of sweetness in a life
so bitter, I flinch everytime I touch
the cruel hands of destiny so loosely
written, that I may change its course
as per your will. It is this contradiction
that make you the most Praiseworthy.
The most beneficient and Noble.
So come now, redeem me of all sins
and accept this downtrodden soul
into thy blessed lots and know that
every time I fall, I rise again to fall
at your benevolent mercy.

All the trees...are conversing...All the trees...are conversing with creatures...
All the prayers of the creatures are about nothing except the land...
All the prayers of Israel are about nothing except the Temple (Breishit Raba 13:2)
The vision of the Temple in Jerusalem that stood before IG and YouTube could photograph it is to be a sacred space for prayer and unity among all nations.
Everything is divinely orchestrated, so the destruction of the Temple isn’t traditionally blamed on the Babylonians so much as on the disunity of the Israelites.
When the world is ready for a holy Temple where all nations are welcome 🙏, then that’s what is prophesied to arrive.
I believe that world peace is inevitable in the grand scheme vision of Creation.
The question becomes:
What are each of us doing to bring that reality closer ?
People of the Book - Pray Your Hand
-The thumb reminds us to pray for those near to our hearts such as family, friends, and other loved ones.
-The pointer finger reminds us to pray for those who point the way such as pastors or teachers.
-The tall man reminds us to pray for leaders around the world.
-The ring finger is the weakest and reminds us to pray for the sick and struggling as well as their caregivers, doctors, and nurses.
-The pinkie reminds us to pray for our own life: for faith, strength, health, and all our needs.

I really enjoyed this book, I loved how it jumped for person to person and their years they had with the book. I found it a really interesting read.
This book was recommended to me by a friend and I wasn't let down.
Gene’s Bibliothèque: Volume 2 in a series starting in 1000BC & planned to continue through the horrors of the 20th century to the present day . A magisterial account of Jewish experience mostly in Christian Europe from the 1492 expulsion from Spain to German secular lawyer Theodore Herzl’s vision for a Jewish homeland . Christ killers, despised money lenders & pariahs characterised European Jews through centuries of abuse & forced segregation in European ghettos . Marranos (swines ) term used for the forced conversos( converted ) of Spain & Portugal- hounded & tortured by the Spanish Inquisition. Forbidden to enter Guilds,Universities( save Medical Faculties) & yet European Royalty financial enablers, global citizens ( avant la lettre ),expelled at the drop of a hat& reinstated when need arose . Periodically , ( ironically )welcomed in the Arab world but - overall buffeted about as scapegoats for the ills of their host societies . Les déracines ( rootless ), simultaneously People of the Book, intent on learning, on language mastery, stubbornly separate, self governing, family minded, resistant to missionary zeal & with the French Revolution( Liberté, Egalité Fraternité) finally admitted ( theoretically & somewhat reluctantly ) to the ranks of the acceptable. The trumped up charges levelled against French army officer Alfred Dreyfus ,his ordeal & release seriously divided French society; the US provided the Jews with their first lasting opportunities to shine in the world . A People forbidden to own land for centuries, prevented from becoming craftsmen / makers, who often clung to pre -enlightenment thinking , finally came into their own . Simon Schama v occasionally intervenes in this erudite, detailed, 800 page dense text , with his own personal memories of growing up as an English Jew in post Holocaust Britain . He is a historian extraordinaire , an exceptional art historian( not his focus here ) and to boot , a story teller( text & television ) .#simonschama #belongingstoryofthejews #scapegoats #bankingismoneylending #religiousconversion #christianeurope #peopleofthebook #waitingforthemessiah #ghettolife #spanishinquisition #tvseries
Smh, their disbelief in Jesus as the Messiah and what he said, skewed their understanding of the prophecies made in the Old Testament explaining who the Final Prophet of Mankind would be and his lineage. Fore Jesus said to them Jews/Israelites "Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce it's fruit." Matt 21:43 Because God sent him (Jesus) to his own people (Israelites) but they rejected him. Why would they (Jews/Israelites) think God would send them another Israelite Prophet when they claimed Jesus was a false Messiah and Prophet and they claimed to of Killed him. "And for their saying: We have killed the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, the messenger of Allah, and they killed him not, nor did they cause his death on the cross, but he was made to appear to them as such. And certainly those who differ there-in are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge about it, but only follow a conjecture, and they killed him not for certain: Nay, Allah exalted him in His presence. And Allah is ever Mighty, Wise." Quran 4:157
When the Rabbi/Leader of the Jews (Al-Hosayn ibn Salam) saw The Prophet of God in (then Yathrib) now Medinah (City of the Prophet) he identified all the signs of the Prophecies layed out in The Old Testament about the arrival of the Final Prophet and Messenger of God in Muhammad Ibn Abdullah (pbuh) and he Rabbi Ibn Salam believed in The Message (Qur'an) and became a Muslim and was renamed Abdullah Ibn Salam by Muhammad The Messenger of Allah.

ALL Muslims must believe in ALL Messengers, and revelations given to them. As far as Eisa ibn Maryam (Jesus, son of Mary (PBUH)) is concerned, we believe in the "Injeel," which translates to "gospel." So what's the difference between the Injeel and the 4 New Testament gospels? The Injeel, like the Qur'an, is revelation received (by Jesus (PBUH)) from God via the "Holy Spirit" (Archangel Gabriel (PBUH)). Like all Abrahamic texts, it was sent down as an oral tradition, but unlike the Qur'an, or the Torah (of Moses (PBUH)), it wasn't preserved in book format, so today we have many different versions of it- The most known being the 4 put into the Bible: The Gospels according to Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
Muslims only believe in the Injeel, which could be called as the "Gospel according to Jesus (PBUH)" himself. This revelation is lost today, since the authors of the current gospels are anonymous, and never met Jesus at all. Remnants of the Injeel could be found in the "Red Letter" Bible, which highlights the (supposed) words of Jesus (PBUH) in red::::::::::::: "He has sent the Book (Quran) to you (Muhammad) in all Truth. It confirms the original Bible. He revealed the Torah and the Gospel." -(Q 3:3)

Say, "O People of the Scripture, come to a word that is equitable between us and you - that we will not worship except Allah and not associate anything with Him and not take one another as lords instead of Allah ." But if they turn away, then say, "Bear witness that we are Muslims [submitting to Him]." (Al Imran 3:64)
