I'm not much of a reader. I find watching a documentary or a movie about something easier to grasp than to read it. Something I always hated about my self.
's book, "Reham Khan" - made headlines before it was released not only in #Pakistan
or the #Pakistani
community, but also here in #India
due to the middle aged cricket-lovers still crushing over the #Kaptaan
for winning the World Cup in 92'. He is still known as Kaptaan after 25 years!
I'm gonna admit that I read the leaked PDF version - I'm sorry but buying the e-book was an absolute no.
The book starts with a sweet love story between the Mother Reham and her Son, Sahir. She believes it was his support and strength that she wrote the book. Every political bias and opinion aside, kids from broken homes can either chose to blame their parents or become the biggest source of strength and superb humans.
The first chapter talks about her 12-year journey on domestic violence, abuse and terrible first marriage. The book continues to tell the tale of a SELF PROCLAIMED AND SELF ACCLAIMED STRONG, INDEPENDENT WOMAN WHO BEATS ALL ODDS IN EVERY SPHERE OF LIFE AND YET, MANAGES TO HAVE GREAT LEGS!
Here is where my problem starts - She calls her self a warrior, a gladiator again and again and again. She repeats the instances of her high morals and extremely high standards of a western yet a very religious media woman in UK practically twice on every page. Self praise is a sign of falsehood. Not confidence.
She further adds how every other man falls in love with her, wants to propose her, wishes to marry her and that is exactly how her first meet with #imrankhan
who she calls the "Supreme Leader" went.
She claims that he was behind her, being head over heels in love with her, and dreamt that when he'd become PM, he would look down upon the crowd and find her "100-watt lighted face" and lovingly calls her "Baby". Imagining words like "Baby" out of a 60-something man like Imran Khan is the most cringe worthy thing Ive read in a while.
Honestly, I'm mid way reading the book and I'm not sure if I wish to continue reading this teenage girl's hate diary.
