Long-time columnist Peter King, who began writing his new column for NBC Sports this week, thinks Garoppolo could develop into an elite quarterback as soon as this season. “Because if you look at Jimmy Garoppolo and what he did last year, the 49ers were a woebegone, wayward, lousy team,” King said this week on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football. “And he comes in, they win the last five (games) of the year, putting up all these points.”
King said he recently spoke with former quarterback and current CBS analyst Tony Romo, who said Garoppolo’s coach gives him a huge advantage.
“(Romo) could not stop talking about what a huge advantage Kyle Shanahan for a young quarterback,” King said, referring to Shanahan’s ability to call successful plays on first down leading to favorable situations on second and third down.
DDDddddaaammmnneeeeddd right! You can see the writing on the wall. Nobody, and I mean anybody could have done what “G” did with the #49ers
last year not even Joe, and I’m serious! That was nothing short of a frigging miracle. Once ok yeah, with luck. twice maybe more luck. three times? Time to stop and think at that point. 4 times? WTF against one of the top defenses in the league? No freaking way! Five times with what he was working with?!! GTFOH! including his two wins in New England to start his career? This isn’t a football player, and this had to be a Hollywood script. Wrong! He really did that shit. Sign him and sign him now!
