Does dark chocolate help improve your eyesight? - The health benefits of dark choc in moderation is nothing new. The eyesight ting is a new one tough. - The boys at examine have been hot on the case and dissected the research. With the following info. - All participants were tested with milk and dark chocolate but sessions were separated by a minimum of 72 hours. Visual performance was assessed using three tests: - 1️⃣High-contrast visual acuity 2️⃣Small-letter contrast sensitivity 3️⃣Large-letter contrast sensitivity - Significant improvements were only seen in small-letter contrast sensitivity. Neither the high-contrast visual acuity or large-letter contrast sensitivity significantly improved. - In the study: The 72% dark chocolate flavanol content was assumed based off of a 2014 analysis done by ConsumerLab. It is unclear how the flavanol content of the milk chocolate was obtained. - There was some improvement in small-letter contrast sensitivity, but that was only measured two hours after eating chocolate. A lot more further research has to be conducted first before dark chocolate can be said to assist eye sight. A non-fitness related pic?! Crazy right; I know (had to take advantage of the natural lighting 😉) Truth is I had a prettttty crappy workout today—I’d give it a 5/10—I’ve been done with school for close to a week and I was thinking it would mean more sleep, better rest, more energy. — the thing is I’ve been having later nights and my internal alarm clock is still waking me up wayyyy too early.😒 On top of that, I’ve done my first—minimal😂—bouts of cardio this week because it’s been GORGEOUS outside☀️, but it’s really taking a toll on me. Everything is sore and not recovering as quickly as I’d hoped it would. I know I’ve touched on this before but sleep, rest, and recovery are VERY important for muscle growth and maintenance! _ 1. More Reps: If you pushed 225 pounds for 10 reps during your last bench press session, and this week you manage to push it for 12 – congrats – you’ve gotten stronger. _ 2. More Sets: If you can pull 405 pounds for 6 reps on the deadlift for 1 set but not 2, and you work your way up to being able to perform the same 6 reps on your second set, viola, you’ve gotten stronger. _ 3. Increased Frequency: If you’re hitting a muscle group once per week, start training it twice; if you’re training it twice, bump it up to 3x. _ 4. Training Density: Say you walk into the gym and perform a total of 5 sets on the bench press for 10 reps each, using 225 pounds, and it takes you 30 minutes to complete. If you can manage to perform the same amount of volume (sets x reps x weight), in less time, you’ve progressed. _ 5. Increased Force: if last week you cranked out 10 reps of 315 on the squat but the last rep was a grinder, and this week you moved the same 315 x 10 but the last rep went up with ease, you’ve gotten stronger. _ 6. Lift Lighter: In most cases, increasing reps will make for an increase in volume even if the intensity and/or the number of sets have been decreased. _ 7. Beyond Failure: when it comes to small isolation lifts – since we are limited to the amount of weight we can increase – adding reps would be our best bet. But if you’ve been training for long enough, you know that it’s easier said than done. Especially since there is a cap on how many repetitions we should work up to. 😌 DETACH FROM THE OUTCOME 😌 - Things are REALLY starting to come together for me the past few days. - FATLOSS IS FUNNY 🌚 - If you don’t know what you’re doing, it can be a MENTAL NIGHTMARE- but once you’ve done this a few times, and are educated on all the little nuances and details of the process- you can detach from the result and just BE PRESENT👌🏼 - I REALLY mean that guys. This cut has been a BREEZE. I’ve spent a ton of time trying to articulate WHY. I almost want it to be harder, just for the sake of being more challenging... but the OLD ME would’ve KILLED for this experience- so I quickly digress. - Somewhere along the line, I’ve truly TRULY learned to detach from the results... and ironically, after I finally learned this on a deeper SPIRITUAL level (in every aspect of my life)- abundance, success, positivity, and all the things I used to WISH FOR- just flow easily and effortlessly to me. ♻️ - Now don’t be fooled, I have a VERY PRECISE strategy for every phase that I undergo, my training is very advanced and it is periodized to an extent that I feel can’t be topped (for ME, at least), my nutrition is extremely calculated, supplementation is holistically the best it’s been, I feel smarter (and AM smarter) than I’ve ever been, and yet I have BALANCE. This is just ONE ASPECT of my life. 🙏🏻 - It somewhat feels surreal. I’m already weighing 205lbs... which is 22lbs down- and I feel like I JUST STARTED my cut. I’m honestly enjoying the hell out of this process, my calories aren’t even low at all, my cardio is at 2 sessions a week 😂 I dreamed of this.... Scratch that, I EARNED THIS. 😏 - 👇👇 Lessons of the day 👇👇 - 1️⃣: Detach from the RESULTS, Master the PROCESS 2️⃣: Work SMARTER, not just HARDER. Maybe once you are the smartest worker you know, then you can start working HARDER. 3️⃣: Be GRATEFUL. If you’re doing things right, and do continue to do things right for LONG enough- one day, this will all become so intuitive and almost “effortless” to you that it won’t seem REAL. - I have enormous gratitude for the community here on IG and all of you that spread positivity, show support, engage with me, or just follow along on the journey. Here's the cardio you should be doing... - Barbell complexes are the shitttt for keeping your muscle while burning some extra calories. Think cleans with light weight/ higher reps for rounds with a minute rest between. - Sprints are another killer cardio option. 5 rounds of 40 yard dashes with a minute rest between will smoke you without elevating cortisol levels. - Circuits are one of my favorites. You'll string a few complimentary exercises together, hit them all back to back, then rest for a minute and do it again. GET BIG NOW by @jmaxfitness - There's ONE THING you need to do that will guarantee muscle growth, and it's getting stronger in the 6-10 rep range. - For example, if you want to build your chest, and your max bench press is 135lbs for 6 reps, then your number 1 goal should be to add 100lbs to your bench press. Doing so will build a bigger chest. I promise. - The same goals for any other body part. Have skinny legs? Add 100lbs to your Bulgarian Split Squat. Does your back suck? Add 100lbs to your chinup. Crappy shoulders? Add 100lbs to your overhead press. I think you can see my point. - Take your time and the strength will come. For example, if you can currently bench 135lbs for 3 sets of 6 reps, then your next workout needs to be 135lbs for 7,6,6. The workout after that needs to be 135lbs for 7,7,6. Keep going until you can do 135lbs for 3 sets of 10 reps, then add weight and keep going. - Chase that strength. Weak guys don't have big muscles. Your body will adapt to your current workload and if you aren't adapting and giving it more challenging volume over time, you aren't over loading that muscle group in order to grow. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You will have to keep on increasing the demands on your boy over time for progressive overload to take place. This definitely felt like my worst race. I ran into several road blocks along the way of training. 4 weeks prior, training was perfectly as planned (10 mile run) 3 weeks prior, academics picked up and running was placed on the backburner. 2 weeks before the race, I sustained knee injuries from a severe fall on stone stairs. 1 weeks before the race, I became ill with an upper respiratory infection. The day of the race, I was significantly dehydrated. With all that being said, this race was the most difficult, physically and mentally. I felt the effects of my dehydration by the fourth mile, as i started cramping up. I then felt the effects of my lack of recent training after the 8th mile, as my body began lacking on energy. This was the first time that I walked during a race. By the 10th mile, I was considering dropping out. But I didn't. After I accepted my conditions and challenges, I used the tools I had at hand. Energy gels and the occasional aid station. When my progress slowed (from an 8:05 minute pace to a 10:30 minute pace) my body had the time to rehydrate. By the 11th mile, I felt partially refreshed, enough that I was confident in grinding to the end. And so I did. Like I said before, this felt like my worst race yet. Last year this time, I ran my personal best of 1:57:45, at what physically felt like my easiest race. This weekend. I ran just shy of that, with a time of 1:57:16, making my fourth half marathon - my hardest race - my new personal record

To manipulate this, I will use a Reverse Band setup, so that I am getting assistance at the bottom of the movement, and being fully challenged at the top. . . This is a great way for me to take an exercise that wouldn't be ideal, and make it fit my structure and mechanics. . . It's only with a complete understanding of mechanics and strength curves and resistance profiles that I am able to make these decisions. . . I see people constantly using bands with movements that make absolutely no sense. . . Don't be that guy. . . Don't waste effort for the sake of trying to be cool. . . Become efficient in your movements and workouts, and take your training and physique to the next level. . . I work with many brides, but you will never hear me say the words “shredding for the wedding”. I work with lots of new moms, but you will never hear me talk about getting your “ body back” post pregnancy. I work with tons of people of all ages and fitness levels and you will never find me pushing my clients to look a certain way, guilting them for things they eat or workouts they miss, urging them to cut for summer, or using “burning off” calories from the weekend, picturing themselves in a bikini or any other manipulative images to encourage them to go harder in their workouts. And while there’s nothing wrong with wanting to look like the best version of you on your wedding day or prioritizing your health as a new parent or feeling confident in a bikini- preying on those common insecurities to market services or product is just plain WRONG and in my opinion one of the biggest current problems in the fitness industry. I’ve been seeing a lot of large scale fitness influencers and trainers offering summer shredding challenges or pushing false information about weight loss, spot reducing, and low calorie diets for years- but the fact that this isn’t changing infuriates me. Enough is enough. As trainers and fitness professionals, it is not our job to tell someone how they should look or to make them feel guilty about their current lifestyle. It’s to encourage healthier behaviors that are realistic and maintainable for the individual, teach proper form, and act as a coach and support system throughout the client’s journey. If you are healthy- you do NOT need to “slim your waist”, “tone” your body, “shred” for summer or your wedding or vacation- unless you genuinely want to. But if you do it, please, do it for you. When do you find the best time to train? . For me I train best at weekends as I work 5 full days a week in an office job. However I still train when I get home in the evenings. . We all have days where we just don’t want to move and have no motivation but I promise you if you get up and get out there that’s over half the battle won. . CLUSTER FOR GAINZ by @aestheticphysiquescoaching # If you’re anything like me, you’re always looking for ways to lift heavy shit. That’s why I want to introduce you to your next favorite method. # Cluster Sets # Rather than doing straight sets of 6 reps, you’d break that up into sets of 2. So it would look something like this: Set 1: 2+2+2. At each “+” you would rack the weight and rest for 15-20 seconds then go into the next set. Once you finish the larger set, rest for 60-90 seconds and start again. # This method allows you to use a slightly heavier weight than you would for 6 reps. Superset with a pushing exercise, like a set of pushups, followed immediately with a pulling exercise like a dumbbell row. Múdry človek ocení to kým sa už stihol stať. Na chvíľu sa zastaví, pozrie sa za seba, čím si už prešiel aby došiel tam kde je teraz a dokáže to oceniť. Mám viacero zaostávajúcich svalových partií a uvedomujem si to. Nepáči sa mi že musím na nich zamakať oveľa viac ako na svojich prednostiach. Ale aj tak som so sebou spokojný už teraz. Prečo by som nemal byť? K čomu by to bolo dobré? ...Myslím že skôr viac pokory a sebauvedomenia treba nám ľuďom. ✌🏼
Building muscle is far from easy – it takes discipline, dedication, and persistence – but it’s not complicated. In fact, it’s actually quite simple… If you can manage to eat enough calories to support growth, consume enough protein (so you can synthesis more than you’re breaking down), train consistently, and make steady progress in the gym, you’ll have NO problem building muscle mass. Sure, this is a bit of an oversimplification, but you get the point. Too often we fret over whether or not we’re taking the right supplements, lifting in the right rep range, moving the weight at the right tempo, or whether or not we’re on the most “optimal” plan… but those are all secondary variables. I don’t care what supplements you take or how slow you perform each rep, if you’re not eating enough, getting sufficient protein, and progressing in the gym, then nothing else is going to help you. Conversely, if you’re eating in a surplus, getting 1g of protein per pound of bodyweight, and gradually increasing total work in the gym, you’ll build muscle even on the shittiest of programs.
