How often do you have full days? Not busy days...I’m talking “full” days. Days that you are accomplishing and feeling fulfilled?
There were a lot of “to do’s” on my plate today. Most of them did actually get completed.
What makes me feel fulfilled though is hitting my priorities. And today, I did all of my priorities (and more). One of those priorities was working out. Maybe I’m kind of weird (ok, I am - and I’m good with that - I’m better than good with that), but I love this exercise!
I like pushups anyway, although I usually don’t do them on my knees. This variation however, you do on your knees with your feet pressed against a wall. It’s a fantastic move that works your arms, back, abs, glutes, and hamstrings. (FYI - You can vary the move by using bands or dumbbells.) Have you ever done this particular version of pushups? Will never forget the first time it happened. I’ve been struggling to recover from that for 13 years or so, and now I’ve suffered and have been properly diagnosed with mental illness for a little over 8 years now. It took a very long time for me to admit that I was not okay and needed help. I’ve been sectioned into 5 different psychiatric wards, every stay more painful than the last. Talking about how I feel and admitting that I need help is certainly not my forte. It’s never come easy to me but here I am. I’m trying. I’m trying to be vulnerable. I’m trying to recover. I’m trying to believe for more. I’m trying to stay. Upping the ante. Working with 12.5lbs, 15lbs (not shown) and 17.5lbs. I decided to try hammer curls with 17.5lbs. I was excited that I completed three sets of 10. In doing this, I am now aware that my left arm is weaker than my right arm. As a result, I focus more attention on that arm by lifting one side at a time so that I can strengthen it. This is important because you do not want to cause injury to your weak side. If you see that you are significantly struggling with a weight to the point that you are sacrificing form, scale back on the weight and perfect the form at a lower weight. Over time you will gain strength, and at that point you can move up in weight as you fee necessary. Slow and steady wins the "race". Always compare what you can do today with what you did last workout. Strive for improvement. This will keep you hungry for more.
Hmmm... decisions, decisions... should I eat protein popcorn or a protein rice crispy treat?! 🤔 ... maybe both?! Haha jk
A lot of people lately have asked me what meal plan I follow. Side note...I personally,
HATE the word diet—mostly because in general, diets are NOT practical or sustainable...Anyway, I follow a macro balanced meal plan (where I eat a certain percentage of proteins, carbs, and fats). I try to have each meal “balanced” because this helps regulate blood sugar, which in turn helps my mood and to not overeat. 🙌
I usually eat pretty clean (lean protein, nuts/seeds, whole grains, lots of veggies) BUT life gets busy and I’ve actually been looking for a good, healthy snack that I can eat on-the-go.
