Tbt to our humble beginnings a few years ago when this was all a passion project of @uppma
‘s while she worked as a lawyer by day. This photo was from a few years ago when she took her signature 11 Spice Chai blend back home to her inspiration, her grandfather, to try. He gave it the tick of approval ✅ @chai_walli
was the brainchild of @uppma
who is the granddaughter of the amazing human on the left (Late Dr Pritam Singh Virdi). It started with an idea, an idea to create the most authentic, vibrant + soul warming chai blends. There were three main reasons why #chaiwalli
she wanted to pay tribute to her grandfather who was a doctor specialising in Indian natural medicine, he was known for his amazingly balanced remedial chai blends. @uppma
learnt from how to balance herbs, spices + teas + learnt all about their healing properties.
The lack of authentic Indian teas on Australian supermarket shelves + cafes angered her as chai is the most important part of a day for most Indian’s. Chai is the national drink of India, why can’t we get it right? So she took matters into her own hands + became a chai crusader by created her own handcrafted blends for the world to enjoy.
She wanted to bring both her Indian heritage + Australian upbringing together by sharing what’s it like to be an Indian Australian. She uses @chai_walli
to share not just stories of chai but stories of culture, community + family so that we are more connected. It’s crazy what happens when you mix passion with hard work, intuition + a whole lotta love 💕 #startedfromthebottomnowwehere #inspiration #bosslady #australianmade #shoplocal #smallbusiness #lawyerturnedtealady #highonchai
