[low carb vs low fat] a study was recently released about the results of low carb and low fat diets over the course of a year with controlled calorie intake. There were no significant weight loss differences between the two. Nor significant differences in health markers. . Knowing this information years ago would have saved me sooo much frustration!! My dogmatic belief in the power of low-carb certainly increased my obsessive food behavior, not to mention screwing up my hormones when combined with high intensity exercise. . The bottom line is there is no perfect diet or macronutrient intake for everyone. Compliance, which is determined by how well your diet suits your preferences, lifestyle, and activity will always reign supreme. . Go forth and eat what works for YOU💃

Before I tell you about this quick tapas platter snack I just made for myself, there's a NEW featured article on THA today: My Treatment for Lyme Disease. . This was one of the most difficult pieces I've ever written because it brought back a lot of PTSD from the treatments I went through to kill off and detox all the spiroketes, parasites, biofilm, pathogens, bacteria etc that comes along with Lyme. . Writing this was something I knew I had to share in hopes that this information will help save someone's life because I honestly have no idea how I did all of this myself. The knowledge I share goes beyond Western medicine. . It's messy, it's traumatic and it's certainly not easy. I couldn't finish this article because I broke down in tears towards the end of writing it because it brought back too many dark memories for me but I figured it was better to publish this knowledge than to delete it. Creamy coconut + turmeric oats 💛 With this dreary weather I wanted something warm and bright. It is full of fibre, fats and antioxidants to keep you full and boost your mood. RECIPE: 💫Heat coconut milk over high heat until it starts boiling - add in oats + 1 tbsp of @botanichealth turmeric mix + 1 tbsp of maca + scoop of collagen + dash of sea salt + cinnamon 💫Cook for about 10-15 minutes or until its your favourite consistency 💫Add on any toppings - today I chose blueberries, almond butter and chia seed pudding and a tiny bit of maple syrup Happy Wednesday!

The first step to any hormonal nutrition protocol is to switch out those fats! Drench your diet in Omega-3 fatty acids and go light on the Omega-6s. Anyone who eats a standard American diet, a diet high in nuts, seeds and seed oils or too low in Omega 3s will have an out of balance Omega 3:Omega 6 Ratio. . Fatty acids modulate hormone receptor sites, determining our response to hormones. Too many omega-6’s can lead to altered hormone receptor function. I love this so matcha 🍵 I woke up this morning with a bit of a sore throat and asked myself what I could add to my morning matcha to help boost my immune system! I went with some @e3live blu majik and my usual manuka honey 🍯 - My usual matcha recipe souped up 💪🏼 I added all these ingredients except the blu majik to my @vitamix :: - Hot water Splash of nut milk 1/2 tsp chaga @foursigmatic 1/2 tsp rhodiola @sunpotion 1 tsp yin power @sunpotion 1 🥄 coconut butter 2 scoops @furtherfoodcollagen 1 🥄 Manuka honey @wedderspoonofficial 1 capsule blu majik @e3live - I added the blu majik after and stirred it around in the froth. Topped with bee pollen and 👌🏼 - The benefits of the Manuka honey are outstanding. I’m ALL about dem carbs today (and yes, that’s a freaking Asiago bagel in dat bag 🤘🏻 my skin can handle some gluten every once in a while, right?) . . Back in my obsessed days, I used to equate carbs to BAD or EVIL foods. And I legit stopped eating carbs for 2 years 🙈 . . Reason # 1939474 why I love this program? It’s SO scientifically based & today is a HIGH WHITE CARB day because when you’re working your muscles as hard as we have been (shout-out to my #liveyourfyeslife fitfam for killing it these past 34 days 🦄), your muscles need the extra energy. . . Specifically, it needs GLYCOGEN to help rebuild yo muscles (I get a bit nerdy about this shiz you guys) . . But fo real, google that shit & EAT YOUR CARBS. . . I usually stick to more complex carbs like sweet potatoes, brown rice & quinoa or chickpeas because 1️⃣ my skin and body operates at its peak without gluten & 2️⃣ simple carbs can often cause inflammation BUT every freaking once and a while, it’s so key for your body. Fish, Chips and Dips (and only 2 SP for the entire meal!) Grilled Salmon with beet, butternut squash and jicama crinkle cut oven fries, and guac, herbed yogurt and sweetened sriracha to dip. We loved the variety in this meal- it felt indulgent and was so healthy. This was my first time roasting jicama fries and I am hooked- try it!! For the fries- place crinkle cut veggies on a parchment lined cookie sheet - in one layer- and spray with your fave cooking spray- roast in a preheated 450 oven for 30 minutes - turning once 1/2way through. The guac here is simply mashed 1/4 🥑 with fresh lime juice and salt (2SP), the yogurt dip is @siggisdairy fat free yogurt mixed with chopped fresh tarragon (use your fave 🌿) and the sriracha dip is simply sriracha with a little truvia to make it sweet heat. Easy meal and my husband told me he wants it again next week!
first time making soft boiled eggs was a success! 🥚 but *WHY*? where’s the smoothie? 😂 well, because i’m getting a fructose intolerance test done tomorrow to see if i have difficulty absorbing fructose, a sugar found in certain foods. from what i know, i have to drink a sugar solution 😩 and then for the next three hours provide several breath samples for analysis. to prep, all i can eat today is plain chicken/turkey/fish, plain white rice, clear broth, and eggs. have any of you had this test done before?! would love to hear! #granolabarregirl #theyums #guthealth

Farmers’ market love! 💚 Easy and delicious way to get your veggies in: make a green veggie purée. 🥒 Add zucchini, kale, onions, cucumber, garlic, dandelion greens and extra virgin olive oil into a pan and let it cook with a lid over it / heat on medium. After letting it simmer for 20 minutes, put all of the ingredients into a blender. Add some bone broth or vegetable stock to help it blend seamlessly, and blend until smooth.
