I can only completely agree. Ned’s death was heartbreaking too, many of the deaths were but nothing gets me like the red wedding. Both Richard and Michelle’s acting is nothing short of perfect, in the most painful way imaginable. How both of their characters look so despondent in the moments before their death, neither of them finding the will to fight for their life as they have just lost someone who meant the whole world to them. Especially Michelle really breaks my heart. The loss of Talisa, Ned Jr and Grey Wind are all painful in their own way as well.
After I had watched this scene the first time, I couldn’t rewatch it a long time after because I felt like I needed time to process it, to almost grieve. When I thought I had more or less reached the point where I might be able to bear seeing it again (although it will always be hard), I heard the theory about Robb warging into Grey Wind and dying a second time. That killed me. I can’t even think about the idea of him watching his wife and unborn baby die, only to die twice himself. God. GRRM is truly a cruel man. Cruel and brilliant.
One of the most heartbreaking, shocking scenes, not just in the show but in the history of TV.
