Today’s win: I had oatmeal for lunch - a meal that my eating disorder considers just a breakfast food. But I was craving it, so I ate it, at lunch time, and it was delicious. And guess what? My body had no idea I was eating a “breakfast food” at lunch time. It doesn’t know what time it is. And I’ve made a promise to myself and to my recovery that I’m always going to give my body what it needs, whenever it decides it needs it. Today, it needed oatmeal at 2pm. So I had oatmeal at 2pm - and it was lush. - deetz -> stovetop cooked, super creamy cinnamon, carrot, and zucchini collagen oats topped with banana, strawbs, raspberries, @purely_elizabeth pumpkin cinnamon granola, loads of peanut butter, and chunks of a chopped peanut butter cookie Larabar and a dark chocolate peanut butter KIND bar (1/4 of each - the chocolate on the bottom of the Kind barmelts on the warm oats and ahhh it’s so good 🤤) - Guess what, friends? My mood has been consistently improving, because I’ve been eating and resting loads despite a poor mental health week. Cheers to that. Recovery is always going to pay off in the end if you stick it out, and if it doesn’t work out? It’s not the end. Give it your all - at least just for a bit. And if you hate it? Cool, you know how to relapse. But I betcha 10 bucks that if you really, truly fully recover: relapse will be the last thing on your mind. I love making simple dinners. It requires less time, less thinking, and less ingredients/cost. If you think of your meal in terms of “I need a healthy grain, protein, and vegetable” it takes all the guess work out! Tonight is steamed broccoli, brown rice, and sautéed sesame orange tofu. 🤤 tofu needs to come in bigger blocks it’s way too delicious.

mediterranean salad + kombucha for lunch while with my nanna 🥗👩‍❤️‍👩 - last time i went to Melbourne with my nanna i had a salad and cried in front of everyone because there was cheese on it. today i ate it and yes i did have thoughts of the oil and fats in it but i stayed present and tried to forget about it. i know salad isn’t the best choice for someone in recovery but i still find eating out difficult and this was still a challenge so 😅 anyway, i finished exams and am officially in year 12!! i feel good about how i went besides for my biology exam which i want to forget about 😂 but i can’t believe i’m finally in year 12. it’s honestly such a big achievement for me as i wasn’t sure if i was even going to pass and now look at me 😇 but yeah, i went shopping today and bought clothes that fit a healthy body and that’s okay 👍🏼 being healthy is a good thing and not something i should be ashamed of. healthy bodies are beautiful and deserve love. i haven’t treated my body with love for such a long time but slowly, day by day, i’m working on loving it. as the famous words from ed sheeran say “before i love someone else, i’ve got to love myself”. so i’m taking that advice and focusing on my recovery, my body & my future. it’s not selfish, it’s taking care of my wellbeing. hope you all are doing okay and sending my love 💓

Real talk: cranberry sauce or nah? Christmas music is already here for the party and thanksgiving is basically tomorrow, so it’s time I share my favorite holiday go-to. Gluten-free green bean casserole, let’s do this. BTW, I gotta give you a pro-tip for slicing your onions. Don’t go by how these 👆🏻onions look, as I definitely sliced these babies the wrong way (I mean they still tasted good but whatevs). All you’ll need to do is slice the top off the onion, leaving the root end. After peeling the top layers off, slice a small chuck off of one side of the onion and place the onion down on the cut side. Holding the root end, starting at the opposite end of the onion, slice evenly across the grain, working back towards the root end. BOOM. Simple breakfast this morning as my tummy has been quite unsettle these past few days and appetite is not the best at the moment. Really getting frustrated with my digestive issues but trying to manage as best as I can while nourishing my body still. Gluten free 7 grain toast topped with almond butter, blueberries and a little drizzle of honey with more berries on the side. Had another slice before the pic but forgot to take a pic. Also had some orange Turmeric tea on the side to hopefully help soothe my stomach as well. 🦆Last duck eggs of the season here! Thank goodness I scored this dozen from the Farmer's Market (plus more of my fave lacinato kale). I prefer duck over chicken because of the richer flavor and huge yolks but they also have more Omega-3s and Vit D if pasture-raised. Plus many who have chicken egg allergies can safely consume duck eggs. They are such a treat! I always say I want chickens but according to some research ducks are easier to raise and more efficient layers.🤔 But definitely messier.🤷‍♀️ Do you eat duck eggs?

Fat and thin are just descriptors. Like tall, short, blonde, brunette... These words don’t have to carry any additional meaning. They don’t have to be looked at as “good” or “bad.” . Not only does viewing fat as an insult (or thin as a compliment) foster disordered thinking, it contributes to the harmful oppression that is experienced by so many people in our society every single day. . Fat phobia is real, and people in larger bodies are frequently attacked, criticized, threatened, and discriminated against just for living their lives. Fat phobia contributes to eating disorders and keeps people in eating disorders. Recovering is scary when the world is constantly telling us that fat is not okay. . Every time we compliment someone on weight loss, or whisper to our friend about how much weight that girl from high school has gained, we are contributing to the problem. We are contributing to the message that fat bodies aren’t okay, and we are reinforcing the fat phobic mindset that harms SO MANY PEOPLE. . Call yourself out on your own internalized fat phobia. (If you grew up in this society, you probably have it on some level— most of us do). It’s not your fault, but it IS your responsibility to help change the narrative. And if you hear fat phobic talk from those around you, speak up! Educate and advocate for those who don’t feel like they can. . Thoughts?
Totally figging out this morning, guys! 😂 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I love a beautifully presented plate of food! Research and experience validates the adage that “we eat with our eyes first.” Food that LOOKS good is more likely to taste good. So, take some time to serve your food in a visually appealing manner — even if you are eating alone. You’ll always enjoy it more, plus it beats eating out of containers. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Observe every note of flavor, texture and how your senses are affected. Imagine that, as you swallow each bite, the nutrient-dense food you’re eating is traveling with a glowing white light through your body and making all your body’s cells sparkle and heal. As someone who spent much of her 20’s dieting aggressively, this has worked wonders for healing my once toxic relationship with food. If it feels forced, unpleasant, and downright punishment, it likely will not last.

Hello from Melbourne! Super excited that the image I planned to post today fits into the theme of Repetition for @tohercore 's #tohercorecontentcreation challenge. Which means I didn't have to find something to shoot in Melbourne.. Which is kinda impossible when you're travelling with the entire family, kids included 😳⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This was shot with a simple composition because my main goal was to experiment with flash. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔸Do you like using artificial light? What is your favourite light? 🔸⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I've been following Joanie @thebiteshot for a while now and she's shown that artificial light can be as good as natural light, so I figured I should get a flash, softbox and have some fun with it. It was a lot of trial and error in terms of angle, and distance from the subject. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The funniest thing about this shot was that it took me hours to fix the softbox together because I couldn't get the sticks into their rightful spots. I have one stick that is kinda sticking out a little but I left it since the box was standing just fine 😂😅 I have just realised that I put the sticks into the wrong holes but I'm gonna leave it 😁⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ •••⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On a a separate note, these are some Hawthorn Berries! I've never had them before though I've been stuffing my face with hawthorn flakes lately. It's a comfort snack I've had since I was a child but I've recently found it absolutely delectable again and been scarfing it down my throat. 😳 All that sugar is not doing me any good so when I found these, I was so excited! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I didn't really have high expectations but they tasted so good! It tasted similar to hawthorn flakes but without the sugar. Pretty fantastic.
