Use the tough times to make you stronger.. I’ve never been so heartbroken and down in my lifetime yet I’ve never been stronger, more confident, or closer to God in my lifetime than I am now. I’m going to admit I hurt and I’m still going to cry. I don’t have to put a front on.. but I do have to get my butt up and TRY. I cannot let the hard times make me weaker.
My favorite reference is the gym. It hurts when you lift really heavy. You don’t think you can do it but you do one last rep or one last mile. It hurts for a few days after, but then you’re stronger the next time you go back into the gym mentally and physically.
Just cause it hurts doesn’t mean you have to let it get you down. Don’t let Satan defeat you. God ALWAYS wins. You just have to trust in Him.
Looking through my feed it’s clear I post way too much toast and not enough of the coast... so in an attempt to be consistent w/ my name here’s a pic of my current view 😍 Happy Saturday!!!
~~~~~~💛~~~~~~ The splits (hanumanasana) are one of my favorite poses... benefits of hanumanasana:
-stretches the back muscles -greatly improves flexibility in the hips -stimulates digestive organs -strengthens hamstrings and thigh muscles ~~~~~~💛~~~~~~
Meditation: Be Kind to Yourself⠀
By Kristin Neff⠀
A three-step contemplation to give yourself the compassion you need (and deserve).Put both hands on your heart, pause, and feel their warmth. You can also put your hand anyplace on your body that feels soothing and comforting, like your belly or face.Breathe deeply in and out.Speak these words to yourself, out loud or silently, in a warm and caring tone:⠀ "This is a moment of suffering.⠀
Suffering is a part of life.⠀
May I be kind to myself in this moment.⠀
May I give myself the compassion I need."⠀ The first phrase, This is a moment of suffering, is designed to bring mindfulness to the fact that you’re in pain. Other possible wordings are I’m having a really tough time right now, This hurts, or anything that describes the suffering you are experiencing.⠀
The second phrase, Suffering is a part of life, reminds you that imperfection is part of the shared human experience. Other possible wordings are Everyone feels this way sometimes, This is part of being human, etc.⠀
The third phrase, May I be kind to myself in this moment, helps bring a sense of caring concern to your present-moment experience. Other possible wordings are May I love and support myself right now, May I accept myself as I am, etc.⠀
The final phrase, May I give myself the compassion I need, firmly sets your intention to be self-compassionate. You might use other words such as May I remember that I am worthy of compassion, May I give myself the same compassion I would give to a good friend, etc.⠀
Find the wordings for these four phrases that are the most comfortable for you and memorize them. Then, the next time you judge yourself or have a difficult experience, you can use these phrases as a way of reminding yourself to be self-compassionate. This practice is a handy tool to soothe and calm troubled states of mind.
this puts my fridge at ground zero 🕸// after a week of meal prep, dinners out, and leftovers, this is the last bowl of prepared food I have available. tomorrow morning - the one day a week I don’t need to get up at a specific time - I’ll sip my coffee and assess what I have in the freezer and pantry, meal plan accordingly, then hit up the local farm market after brunch with our friends. planning first, shopping second allows me to be strategic with my meals and avoid food waste or high grocery bills! people can tease me for my spreadsheets and type-a personality all they want. stick to what works for you and tune out the white noise.
Lookin good after the rain
All of those things you say that you don’t have time for... try replacing it with ‘it’s not a priority’ and see how it feels. .
As a health coach I often hear people say they don’t have time to do certain things. I respect the time factor can be more challenging for some people than others, but our priorities do play a huge part. ✨
Make your health and wellbeing a priority. You’re worth it. 💖
A series of post-workout selfies. There haven't been many posts from me lately but I'm going to try to get back to posting. I took a little bit of a break from social media but I need that fitspiration again.
I hadn't worked out as much over the last few weeks but at least I made it in a handful of times. It was hard to fight off the depression, but I put the right steps in place to get back to my baseline. Now, I'm ready to get back into my normal fitness routine. .
After much deliberation, I have decided to share my past on here to help those who want to heal their pains, heal through a little inspiration, well I hope it helps anyway. I did not have a plan in place that lead me to fight pain and I don't believe there is one, all I did was accept the pain but refused to accept defeat.
This post is not to gain sympathy, I am enough as my own sympathiser, thank you but it is to make you believe, that things do change. You must accept the pain, it is there to heal you.
Sadness comes, happiness goes but then happiness comes back and the sadness goes. That's how life works.
I know you wouldn't believe me if I told you that I laughed my way through chemotherapy and surgeries, but I did and here is proof. I just came out of surgery, the skin on my chest was raw, I had tubes punctured into most areas of my body, and I was in agony but I was more interested in modelling for pictures (lol). The only thing that really saddened me was losing my hair because hair is confidence for so many and when it was taken away, my confidence was taken away too.
But I just carried on, there is no secret, there is no recipe for happiness. I didn't do anything except refuse to give up and that is what you need to do, that is the only thing you need to do and you will do it.
You will be content and you will be happy, whether THEY like it or not. :)
VEGAN FRIDAY FEAST🥑🌽🍅🍒🥕 So many vibrant colours, so much freshness, such amazing textures. AN EXPLOSION of nutrients and healthy goodness!!! 💚💛💚💛💚 .
This feast is focusing on mostly raw foods, with the exception of the cooked red rice and steamed sweet potato purée. Otherwise this is nature in all its virginal glory. 🙌
Raw food has all its essential nutrients intact, and provides our body with optimal fuel. It also contains important enzymes that are often destroyed through cooking, helping our digestion function properly and our metabolic processes stay in balance.
I've started increasing my intake of raw plant food, as a way of nourishing my recovering body as much as possible. Having completely deprived my body of nutrients for several years as an anorexic/bulimic, I had completely forgotten - in fact I was in total denial about it- how much impact the right nutrition has on our health and quality of life. Finally I'm discovering, for the first time in my life, how easy and amazing it feels to nurture my body properly, the way nature intended. I feel free of guilt and shame, I feel strong and energised, I feel clear minded, focused, inspired, alive and genuinely happy! I don't think I'll ever convert to an exclusive vegan raw diet, mostly because the winters in Norway are so long and cold, calling for some hot and comforting cooking. But increasing the intake of clean, raw foods is definitely a goal in my process of recovering physically and emotionally.❤️
