CODEPENDENCY: Part 3 💫
Being codependent on people, on people's approval of your work or on people's recognition of your actions is not a good or a bad thing. It's just something that exists in your behaviour and often comes about due to being close to someone who's an addict that you have been manipulated by or fallen victim to. Coaddict and codependent are the same thing.
However, the person it mainly becomes a problem for is yourself, and through codependency your relationships can become unmanageable (worrying a lot about others or what they think of you, trying to control people and situations despite it not working, pushing people away because you don't believe that you deserve love or help... Relationships of any kind can become difficult). Repeated codependent behaviour often only strengthens the grip it has over you and your life.
You have to learn to accept your powerlessness in situations and of your codependency, to love yourself and others just as they are, to know you are always worthy, to take responsibility for your actions and to speak kindly toward yourself and others with nothing but love and acceptance for where you are in your journey, or where they are in their journey. Taking the time to work through your past experiences that contributed toward your codependent behaviours can be a huge help too, and learning to see the part that you played in them 🌛✨ Sending you all lots of hugs from my jungle 🌿 Be kind to yourselves, and feel free to drop any questions in a DM 💛
