to be loved in halves,
too full of love
to soak in energy
that feels lukewarm on my soul.”

If you are a free lancer ( working for yourself ) this is IMPERATIVE.
Why? Because unless you are a confident negotiator or have an agent or a manager acting as the middle man you must be able to name your price.
Most of the time the person approaching you for work should have a budget in mind. Always ask about this.
You wouldn’t go into a shop take a product and offer to pay when you can, so dont let a potential employer to treat you as such.
5 tips to consider when it comes to freelance fees:
1. You must know your worth ( and add reasonable tax ). Depending on what field the job is, is there a day rate as well as an additional fee? Commission?
In some cases employers will treat you according to how you see your self and they can smell doubt a mile off. So heads high!
2. Say it with your chest! If you don’t ask you don’t get.
Speak now or forever hold your peace.
3. It’s good to talk.
Speak to at least 2 people in your industry of choice to get an insight of what the going rates are and what it’s like to work for the potential employer.
4. Do not get discouraged. If they can not match your asking fee and you cannot afford to take their offer at that time, always believe that more will come. It is a universal principal and hopefully you are perfecting your skill set in the interim between work.
5. There is nothing wrong with working as a ‘favour’ or for experience. Just be sure you get something out of the job too and climb your own personal ladder expanding your skill set.
At the very least always ask for your travel expenses to be covered.
