This picture was taken at Fort Johnson at the Fort Harrison Battlefield unit. Fort Harrison was important in defending Richmond during the Civil War and is the largest series of fortifications made during the war. The earthworks were made by confederate soldiers to protect Chaffin's Bluff on the James River.
The earthworks seen at the park are important as they allow visitors to visualize the historical setting and better appreciate our local history. While we want you to go outside and explore as much of the park as possible, please be mindful of what's around you and help us preserve our sites!

While it may have felt like summer the last few weeks, the calendar said otherwise! June 21st is the official start of the #SummerSolstice
☀️ Celebrate by enjoying the beautiful weather and taking a stroll through Washington Square Park ⛲️
At 6:07 am this morning summer officially began on Cape Cod! Starting today, all Cape Cod National Seashore beaches will begin collecting fees daily, and lifeguards will be on duty during the day. Marconi Beach is currently closed for repairs to the beach access stairs.

...the valley around the Kaweah River looks a lot like the area around Zumwalt Meadow, which looks an awful lot like the Yosemite Valley.

...this is the same group of peaks from a couple photos ago. They look entirely different from this angle.

...the size of this waterfall is hard to comprehend. It was pretty bright that morning back in May.
I'm in love 😍. We hiked the #Grinnell
Glacier trail yesterday in #Glacier
National Park and it was beyond amazing. Pictures don't do justice. We couldn't go all the way to the glacier due to trail closures but we still got to see it before it's no longer a glacier. #FindYourPark
