, Orville and Wilbur Wright achieved the first successful airplane flights. With courage and perseverance, these self-taught engineers relied on teamwork and application of the scientific process. What they achieved changed our world forever. Never forget to dream big. Photo of #WrightBrothers

Christmas tree. Find a path and take a hike. We found that the Hancock trail was full of #evergreens
🎄Don't forget your ax or saw!
Do you ever sometimes feel that a photograph can’t nearly do a place justice? Ansel Adams once said, “When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence.”
I love taking pictures. But sometimes if I’m going to a place I’ve been before I almost want to leave my cameras at home (though I usually don’t give in). Because we have an inherent need to try and capture a scene; to capture it and to remember it. Here I have a camera in my backpack, a GoPro on my wrist, and my phone in my hand. So sometimes our desire to capture a scene can take away from truly experiencing it.
Like Ansel Adams said, “when images become inadequate I shall be content with silence.” I will never not take photographs when I travel to a place as beautiful as this, but a goal of mine for 2019 will be to make sure I’m fully in the moment. Rather than stop every 10 feet to take another photo, that’s probably very similar to the last, I want to stop and simply take it all in with my senses.
Here’s to being more present in 2019. ⚡️ Who’s with me? ⚡️
On our first day, our guide Henry drove until we were in the middle of a vast plain, surrounded by wildebeests, and shut down the car.
Never have we been surrounded by so many large animals. It was eerily, peacefully quiet; we heard only faint sounds of teeth munching, call and replies of grunts, and the occasional horns locking.
In this one field, we were surrounded by at least 6,000 wildebeests. This group wasn't a part of the great migration, that was still to come. If it were, the population around us would have soared upwards of 10,000.
We had this view all to ourselves. Not another tour in sight. This is why we're never truly discouraged by "off" seasons!
Sunrise over Haleakalā Crater. Worth the 2am wake up call. .

In this picture, instead of saying,"Cheese😁," we stuffed our mouth with cheese🧀 and cracker and gave our best smile.
Sometimes, when its cloudy at night, we can't see the stars at all, like Friday night ⭐

Looking back at all the amazing places I visited this past year with a happy heart. Going through all my old photos has me excited for the new year and the new adventures it will bring with it 💕

Winding, wind swept mountain trails tug on my heartstrings. ✨
There's great fishing here - a river runs through the campground! Although this picture doesn't quite depict it, the campground is really shaded. And you can have the whole place to yourself since it's a group site!!!
I love it when you feel like you have a National Park to yourself. Pinnacles NP on a Monday was a great choice! #findyourpark
Palisades Group Camp in the Inyo National Forest, California.
Make sure you check out www.campgrounds360.com for camping this spring! SEE your campsites before you reserve.
Fall at Cades Cove, Smoky Mountains National Park.
According to the NPS, Cades Cove is a broad, verdant valley surrounded by mountains and is one of the most popular destinations in the Great Smokies. It offers some of the best opportunities for wildlife viewing in the park. Large numbers of white-tailed deer are frequently seen, and sightings of black bear, coyote, ground hog, turkey, raccoon, skunk, and other animals are also possible.
An 11-mile, one-way loop road circles the cove, offering motorists the opportunity to sightsee at a leisurely pace. Allow at least two to four hours to tour Cades Cove, longer if you walk some of the area's trails. Traffic is heavy during the tourist season in summer and fall and on weekends year-round. While driving the loop road, please be courteous to other visitors and use pullouts when stopping to enjoy the scenery or view wildlife.
