And it's assembled. Now to readjust my dress form to the measurements with my corset so I can start making the adjustments I see will be necessary. I have narrow shoulders so everything but the top portion fits beautifully with my corset.
To eliminate the gaping/excess fabric in the back and make the armholes fit better, I'm thinking of turning the bust/waist darts in front and back into seams that continue all the way up. It may not look screen accurate that way, but I think it will be less of a headache in the long run. Plus the front seams will be covered by the bodice band, which I have yet to create. I didn't like the pattern piece that came with the dress so I'll be using that plus one from a Mccall's pattern to draft one I like better.
I'm also going to skip adding the back cutout this time around. When I have more experience with patterns and sewing, I plan on making this again only much more accurate. For now I'm just focusing on pushing myself but also keeping it simple enough that I don't get overwhelmed.
Overall I'm not angry with it. I think it's a really good start to things and it's been a good learning experience so far.
Wish me luck!
