Genre - Fiction
Rating - 3.5/5
Sometimes having happy relations and a moderate life makes us forget that as a society, we have many dark pit holes to mend. This beautifully devastating piece of writing will bring your attention back to it.
Behind The Crimson Tears is a book about three friends - Moksh, Alisha and Vineet who have got together for a get together after a really long time. As they say each other, they become cheerful land happy but this meeting also becomes the centre of the dark revelations of their horrifying pasts. Their pasts include domestic violence, murder, sexual assault, regret and long lost love. Love, for these three, is the worst thing that has happened to them and this book reveals why it is so.
Talking about the cover and the title of the book - the cover is perfect. It portrays exactly what the book as to give, is eye-catchy and people who judge the book by it’s cover won’t regret buying this book. However, the title is not very relevant to the book. Yes, it is artistic and gives of the vibe of the book you cannot judge what they book may present from the tile. However, the mysteriousness can add an extra point for people who want to be shook.
The content is dark, negative, and I would it rate it as a 16+ book.

Traveling the next three weekends so making this my inflight reading ✈️
In this new season, the key is prioritization - less distractions, more productivity - so I’m reading this bestseller in an effort to gain more insight and master “that one thing”. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Pagi harinya, barang dagangannya disita aparat kepolisian setempat, bahkan sampai dihina. "In the end it is a story of the inelecutable conflict between good and evil, the light and darkness, the White City and the Black."
The story of the world fair in Chicago and the story of the crimes of H.H. Holmes is intresting and fascinating on its own. I just wished Larson would have taken a bit more liberty while telling it. He stayed with the facts and used a lot pf quotes. So it feels like non fiction while the book qualifies as "fiction based on a true story". That was throwing me of a bit. While it was an interesting topic to read about, I was not really making any emotional connections with the characters/historical figures. It felt very much like a textbook, or one of the essays I read for my American Culture class back at university. But Larson did a really good job with his research and I liked the foreshadowing and the bits and bobs of irony and humor.

Morningstar: Growing Up With Books by Ann Hood
A memoir about the magic and inspiration of books from a beloved and best-selling author.
In her admired works of fiction, including the recent The Book that Matters Most, Ann Hood explores the transformative power of literature. Now, with warmth and honesty, Hood reveals the personal story behind these works of fiction.
Growing up in a mill town in Rhode Island, in a household that didn’t foster the love of literature, Hood nonetheless learned to channel her imagination and curiosity by devouring The Bell Jar, Marjorie Morningstar, The Harrad Experiment, and other works. These titles introduced her to topics that could not be discussed at home: desire, fear, sexuality, and madness. Later, Johnny Got His Gun and The Grapes of Wrath influenced her political thinking as the Vietnam War became news; Dr. Zhivago and Les Miserables stoked her ambition to travel the world. With characteristic insight and charm, Hood showcases the ways in which books gave her life and can transform—even save—our own.

by Taylor Jenkins Reid was a wild ride. While a lot of the book focuses on Daisy and Billy, I want to scream from the rooftops about Camila! What a queen 👑💖😍📚

Growing up African in Australia | edited by Maxine Beneba Clarke
Can I include this as an autobiography? This is an anthology. The contributors are African-diaspora Australians writing about their experiences in Australia. Some of the stories are heartfelt and funny some stories are brutal, tough and scary. Lots of the stories are very unfair. Taking about race is really hard but that’s why we should do it.... I’m always wanting to educate myself and grow as a human and all that stuff but regardless of that this is a good book to read, well written and interesting.
What time of the day is your ideal time to do some reading?
In the evenings, after everyone’s gone to bed, is my favorite time to read. I usually stay up for about an hour to an hour and a half with my reading light and enjoy some reading time.
I just started reading Inheritance by Dani Schapiro. I am already so intrigued and can’t wait to get to the meat of the story. I’m also reading Mrs. miniver for our book club. I’m hoping to read Fever 1793 as well as The girl who drank the moon in May. I think this mug nails it with the quote So many books so little time. Seriously there are so many books that I wholeheartedly wish I could read or want to read. For now I will enjoy each and every book that I am able to relish.
I hope that you have had a fabulous Easter weekend. I’m looking forward to going on a vigorous walk to work off all of the feasting that has been done this weekend. LOL it’s been so wonderful to just spend time with friends and family. I hope that you have a fabulous Monday! 💕
Friday the 13th part 6- Jason lives is my second favourite Friday film. It’s a fun film that any horror fan can just throw on and have a blast with. This film marks the full fledged supernatural turn of Jason, even though it’s highly debated if he was supernatural in the previous films.
A slice of whole-grain toast with avocado & cream cheese on top is absolutely the perfect combination to survive a day!
Until I decide my next title, I’m quite excited to start reading Ausharren im Paradies (although I totally have no idea what it is all about lol), which I luckily took from the fab “feel free to take” section in the library owned by German cultural centre☺️
