- I used to dread summer. Summer means shorts which show my legs and tank tops which don’t hide my arms and bikinis which basically don’t hide anything. I’d wear jeans even on 30 degree days because I just hated my body so much I wanted it to stay hidden. - But all that changed this year. I love and accept my body exactly as it is today, and I love showing it off. Yesterday I even went and bought a feminine bikini which was a first, having worn sporty swimsuits and bikinis for most of my life. - Apparently 9 out of 10 women don’t like their body. Honestly, that sucks. But I get it, because I used to be one of them. But it doesn’t have to be this way. - I’m not saying that it’s easy to just go from hating your body for years to then accepting it. It takes some rewiring of the brain and a lot of practice. But it’s an incredibly rewarding journey. - Tell me, what would it feel like to really accept your body? What in your day to day life would change?

Social media is training us to compare our lives and bodies, instead of appreciating everything that we have and are. I’ve included this first photo (to catch your eye), where I’m aware of my body angles, aware of the camera and specifically posing to make my body appear more visually pleasing- for the likes of strangers (duh). In the following photo, taken on the same day, within the same few minutes- I’m caught off guard and here you can see the power of those same but slightly different angles and lighting working against me. Perception is everything. Don’t believe everything you see. Though I don’t edit my photos using smart apps, I am among the mass group of people, that has had my photo taken enough times to know how to manipulate the image in my favor. SURPRISE! I’m not the only one who does this. All of the models in ads and campaigns are airbrushed and face tuned. This is that whole, Instagram vs reality thing... try to remember that when you’re scrolling. Beauty is everywhere, even without photoshop. Remember that. Don’t forget to embrace YOU baby! Yes, even the cellulite, wrinkles and stretch marks, you’re human! We all are💋 (also, yes. I am aware that I’m not a “large” person and that this might be silly to some. “I’m not super sure that I can put what I want to say into words. We live in a time where women are scolded for feeling good about themselves. Frankly it’s annoying and I hate it. If you love yourself exactly how you are, that’s some sort of shame? I guess that’s why I needed this shoot. Self-esteem is the true opinion we have of ourselves, and how we respect ourselves as a person. ———————————————— It is hard to feel good about ourselves if we hate our body. And it is hard to take care of our body if we have poor opinion of ourselves. It can be a vicious cycle. The good news is that we can control our body image and how we feel about ourselves. ———————————————— For the longest time, my main goal for working out was to stay skinny. As long as I had slim thighs, a flat tummy and arms small enough to wrap my hand around, I was happy. ———————————————— Having your dream body shouldn't be about getting skinny, or getting down to a certain number on the scale. ———————————————— In fact, it's probably best if you toss your scale in the trash. Throw those tape measurers away: Don't focus on a number. ———————————————— Focus on becoming the strongest, best version of yourself you can possibly be. And no, becoming strong doesn't mean you're going to look like a crazy ripped body-builder. ———————————————— It just means your body will be toned and have definition. We need to pay attention to the environment media has built around us because it has led to false beauty standards for ALL women. The danger lies when women start self validating themselves based in these images of “beauty”. They are all FALSE, there isn’t only one beauty standard being because we ARE ALL BEAUTIFUL AND UNIQUE! 🌞 I urge my followers to be critical of the environment around then instead of being critical on themselves. Next time instead of taking it out on your body image, dig deep to another problem that could be causing you to feel negative about yourself. We CHOOSE to believe what true beauty is. I want to build a more diverse culture and accepting world based on the premise that ALL BODIES are worthy of love and beauty. I was supposed to be getting ready for a date about now. I haven’t done much dating at all this year. It will be 3 years next month since I left my marriage. Most days, I’m totally fine with being single. I live a full, happy life. I have wonderful friends, my gorgeous daughter and family, and I live in my dream location. ✨ Then every now and then I think, wouldn’t it be nice to share this lovely life with a man again? ✨ I swore I was going to meet him in real life, wait to meet him through friends, or doing something I love like horse riding or dancing. But in the last 3 years I haven’t met a nice single guy once this way. So every now and then I resort to internet dating. If you aren’t single, it would be so easy to laugh at internet dating. But I can tell you wholeheartedly there’s nothing to scoff at. I know plenty of happy couples who met online. ✨ Cue me going online again last week. There was a few ok matches, and one interesting option. We chatted on the phone a few times, once for more than two hours. We organised to meet tonight for dinner. I got that little excited feeling in my belly, you know the precursor to something that could be yummy? ✨ Then this morning I get the text that he’s been on another date over the weekend and there was a spark, and out of respect to her, he can’t meet me. ✨ It’s amazing how such a little rejection can hurt. I mean, he doesn’t even know me, so it’s not like he really rejected me. I think I’m just feeling shitty with whoever is in control up there. I mean, like come on, isn’t it my turn??!! ✨ So I sigh, snuggle solo on my bed, and prepare for a night of Netflix. Clearly someone up top has other plans for me that don’t involve being in a relationship right now. I guess I have to be ok with that. ✨ My friends and I joke about the grass being greener. They envy my freedom, my solo time, my whole big queen size bed to myself. I envy their companionship and their intimacy with another. 💪STRENGTH💪 Shout out to @hagzley and @brontebarry for a couple of nice pb deadlifts! Both these girls have signed up for a #strongwoman competition at the start of feb next year. So we have shifted training focus to focus on improving the deadlift and overhead press and more focus on maximal strength rather than our general broad program. We have 9 weeks till their comp and have broken up their training into three phases Phase one of their new training plan (4 weeks) technique & hypertrophy The goal of this block is to improve a couple of little technique issues mainly in the deadlift using moderate weights and focusing on speed and quality of movement. This alone should give the girls good improvements on their max lifts. The hypertrophy component (muscle gains) is focusing on bringing up weaker areas including the muscles of the upper back, the Glutes, abs and legs. Working on these areas will give our girls more muscle and ideally more muscle to recruit which will help with phase 2 phase 1 is probably our most important at this stage as our girls are intermediate level and still building a big base, spending a little more time focusing on these areas will also help to bullet proof our girls and also set them up well if they choose to do more comps later in the year. Phase 2 strength (3 weeks) Shifting towards lower rep heavier weights to help our girls make their central nervous system more efficient at recruiting the muscle they have grown over the last four weeks and preparing their bodies to lift heavier weights as they move closer to their comp. we won’t be maxing out here put will be pushing the weights a little further Phase 3 peak - 2 weeks A small peak block tapering the volume (amount of work the girls do) and moving towards more specific comp movements so they are comfortable shifting large amounts of weight with in competition style format. In this block there will be less training but still keeping the intensity high and making sure our girls are fully recovered and feeling like a caged animal come comp day! Pumped to see these girls tackle the comp with @tebroc66 and @joannetaefu and @katiesweetpotatie @valhalla_strength_sth_bne

Including a few more turkeys from @mcintyrefamilyfarms and all the goodies from @glutenfreegalaxy plus purple Brussels sprouts which I did not even know was a thing! Also definitely eyeing that seafood section for Christmas dinner...crab legs, anyone? What’s your plan for Christmas dinner this year?
Our true nature is insanely gorgeous. The beauty of our essence/character/uniqueness/individuality/spark/inner light is always enough. Cinnamon Oatmeal Banana Bread • * 3 tbsp. coconut oil melted * 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce * 3 tbsp. honey * 3 tbsp. maple syrup * 2 eggs * 1.25 cups mashed bananas (around 3 bananas) * 1/4 cup almond milk * 3 tsp. cinnamon * 1 tsp vanilla extract * 1 tsp baking soda * 1/2 tsp salt * 1 cups white whole wheat flour * 1 cup rolled oats * 1/2 cup dairy free chips • Bake at 350 for 45-55 min until golden brown and toothpick comes out clean!

💪STRENGTH💪 Shout out to @hagzley and @brontebarry for a couple of nice pb deadlifts! Both these girls have signed up for a #strongwoman competition at the start of feb next year. So we have shifted training focus to focus on improving the deadlift and overhead press and more focus on maximal strength rather than our general broad program. We have 9 weeks till their comp and have broken up their training into three phases Phase one of their new training plan (4 weeks) technique & hypertrophy The goal of this block is to improve a couple of little technique issues mainly in the deadlift using moderate weights and focusing on speed and quality of movement. This alone should give the girls good improvements on their max lifts. The hypertrophy component (muscle gains) is focusing on bringing up weaker areas including the muscles of the upper back, the Glutes, abs and legs. Working on these areas will give our girls more muscle and ideally more muscle to recruit which will help with phase 2 phase 1 is probably our most important at this stage as our girls are intermediate level and still building a big base, spending a little more time focusing on these areas will also help to bullet proof our girls and also set them up well if they choose to do more comps later in the year. Phase 2 strength (3 weeks) Shifting towards lower rep heavier weights to help our girls make their central nervous system more efficient at recruiting the muscle they have grown over the last four weeks and preparing their bodies to lift heavier weights as they move closer to their comp. we won’t be maxing out here put will be pushing the weights a little further Phase 3 peak - 2 weeks A small peak block tapering the volume (amount of work the girls do) and moving towards more specific comp movements so they are comfortable shifting large amounts of weight with in competition style format. In this block there will be less training but still keeping the intensity high and making sure our girls are fully recovered and feeling like a caged animal come comp day! Pumped to see these girls tackle the comp with @tebroc66 and @joannetaefu and @katiesweetpotatie @valhalla_strength_sth_bne

• L A C K L U S T R E • Lately I've felt that my motivation to train has been a little lacklustre. I'm still getting to the gym, but some days it just feels like I'm going through the motions. And you know what? . That's ok. . Exercise doesn't always have to be this amazing thing that you always look forward to. I personally believe motivation ebbs and flows, but it's important to ride the wave and just do something. . When I'm feeling a bit 'blah' about my fitness routine I try to mix things up. Exercising outdoors in nature is probably the best cure I've found. Instead of a gym routine I'll go for a coastal walk, use some of the outdoor gym equipment and finish with a swim in the ocean. Otherwise I'll go shoot some hoops or head to a yoga class where I can completely zen out and just follow the teachers instructions. . Maybe it's just me or maybe it's the time of year where our bodies and minds are craving some downtime. Either way I know my body still needs movement as it helps me be more productive, improves my mood, and keeps my stress levels in check. . Sometimes a change in pace, intensity or type of exercise is all we need to feel refreshed again. And if all else fails, just embrace your inner child and go climb a tree. We forget play counts as a workout too🤸‍♀️

Yep I’ve been guilty, I’ve been guilty of teaching my best friends and even my youngest sister how to edit their bodies, face & hair 💔 . Recently my best friend gave me a huge awakening that she probably didn’t even realize she had done at the time. That’s what best friends are right 😘 @_emmaalys_ 🙏🏻 . She’d shared something about her little girl and it made me realize that EVERYTHING we do affects the next generations. . And I thought to myself... Alisha do you want your children growing up not loving their bodies. What if they came home and asked you to edit them like I’ve done in the past? . NO FUCKING WAY!! . I REPEAT NO FUCKING WAY!!! . So I went through my Social media and I deleted images that I had edited. I removed the fakery and I vowed to never “fine tune” my body in apps ever again! . I can never truly love myself if I spent all my time trying to hide the real me from the world. To hide the real me from even myself in my own pictures. . ❤️ LOVE YOUR BODY ❤️ . How important is this, whether your tall, small, plus size or petite. Now a year after having my son and I have days where I think ugh, I want the old me back. I want the fit girl her who made sure she was good mind, body and soul. I find I've lost it a bit especially on the nights we don't sleep much and doing so many wonderful things in this life, it's hard 💤. . I know my body is a fabulous magical ✨ tool that created life and gets from one place to the next. I am strong to hold my 23lb son as much as he needs me and to give him all the cuddles. I am energetic to play tag around the house with him as we laugh and run around. My body is a miracle and although my belly is still soft and my legs and arms are bigger my son loves me completely because I am me 💖. . I love my body for all it can do and when I wear a dress that I've created for me that fits perfectly 👌 oh I even feel a little sexy 💃 . How do you love and appreciate the miracle your body is?
