television has died.
, longtime anchor at WVUE FOX 8 News, died in a plane crash Friday afternoon in New Orleans East.
She anchored every newscast at the station for more than 20 years in New Orleans.
She was on assignment with Franklin Augustus, a member of a Louisiana group that honored Tuskegee Airmen.
Augustus was a trained acrobatic pilot who was also an advocate for youth and fighting against drug use.
Parker is a native of Opelika, Alabama, where she graduated with honors from Opelika High School.
In 1988, Parker graduated with honors from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, with a bachelor of arts degree in journalism.
She moved to New Orleans in 1996.
The crash happened at Jourdan and Morrison roads in New Orleans East.

Lakefront Airport Fire and Rescue responded along with NOFD.
