This stall is located right opposite the oldest temple in JB (柔佛古庙) and opens early in the morn for breakfast. It’s on the other side of City Square Mall (check Google map). Only sells economical rice, porridge, noodles etc as there’s no enough space and manpower for tze char. But there’s a lot of dishes to choose from. Costs RM12 for these 2 plates. only opens from 6am-3pm daily.
@midvalleysouthkey is the newest mall in Johor Bahru and while the mall is not fully operational yet (TOP level not ready), most shops are open to date, and you get to enjoy free parking till 15th Sept. there are 2 @bmsorganics outlets in this mall itself, and if you actually surf the midvalley website, you won’t find them listed as they are located in Popular Bookshop and the Village Grocer as an attached cafe inside. The Village Grocer outlet serves a wider menu (most items contains alliums which can be omittable). Definitely one of the healthier choices around. Otherwise you may wait for Kinsahi and Asahi (both offering veg options) when they open later in the year. Good to install the “GoVeggie Malaysia” app which is very well maintained and updated. Otherwise we wouldn’t have known of BMS existence.
Ta da! Unveiling my “Mala” cold dish~ enoki shrooms! The sauce is just wow~ as the Ma 麻 aka Numbness only kicks in after a while. Spicy level 1~ so it’s not too difficult to enjoy! Almost raw cook except for the enoki mushroom ~ cook for 2 mins then give it a cold soak ~ and then just mix with colours (capsicums are crunchy and fresh).

Certainly one of the better Mala sauce in the market! Thanks to ms veg’s Friend @realife261 to lugging this back! This is from a steamboat store in China (一叶一世界）which has multiple outlets in China. Note if this its available in taobao though. Time to cook soon!

Family tradition~ 7th month Prayers. Ms Veg’s mum cooked a full veg food offering. I’m pretty impressed with her coming up with veg curry fish, braised mushroom tofu and eggs, pan fried marinated brinjal, panfried beancurdskin with tofu, some mocks, Mee goreng, broccoli with tofu and shrooms, Chili fish bbq.
@the_peranakan offers a separate veg menu after many patrons asked for veg friendly cuisines. While the menu indicates #alliumsfree , note that not all dishes are omittable, which is a pity as I’ve wanted to try the nonya chap chye and kueh pie tee. Nonetheless, there are some other authentic Peranakan dishes available, and the rendang curry mutton is one that’s worth trying. They do use quite a lot of mock meat for the veg cuisine and the ngoh hiang is not homemade.
Note: Not Suitable for anyone concerned with any forms of contamination as this is not a pure veg restaurant. The nice decor and gallery is exquisite.
by Mr Vegan~ @gomama.sg is a brand new veg caterer located in Tampines. If you wish to dine at the outlet, you will be surprised that there’s no “Physical” store at this place itself, and everything is done via the food kiosk, and collection via the “lockers” as shown. The positive side: the food is served hot. Interesting self service (almost zero human contact) concept but more to improve on (e.g: to provide Chinese menu, indication on menu of its vegan friendly, alliums free etc). We’ve managed to ask gomama on their food ~ all #alliumsfree and #vegan .
Costs $12.90 for the jap curry rice and comes with a free can of drink. Definitely a futuristic dining experience. Gomama does deliver to your doorstep islandwide! You may order online now for a 40% off (first order). promo code: GOMAMA40
Finally here for Mother Ngoh yummilicious soups. We had the monkeyhead mushroom soup as well as the tian Ma mushroom soup. It’s awesome that they too allow us to order from @bodhideli that’s located on the same level and dine here. Ms veg’s Nephew Had the Mee rebus. As usual the lady serving was very friendly. The soup~ just sooo good and homey feel that’s done by mum. Most imptly, if you think u won’t be full, you are wrong! I Guess that’s where the nutrients are all covered~ definitely filling! Rojak side is a must order too.
#coconutjelly on a Hot day ~ ms veg’s colleague got it from a fruits distributor that comes to the office and sell their products. Costs 3 for $10, and I was told this is available in many places. Pretty refreshing but also sweet as there’s still sugar added. Interesting jelly with coconut meat. No juice though. There’s loads of coconut related brands available in the market now, Mr Coconut, CocoCane are some impressive ones selling real coconut juice. The cheapest option is still to buy the real fruit and chop it yourself. Have a good weekend all, keep hydrated!
@wupaochunsg opens in Singapore and ms veg finally gets to try! Spotted this in Kaohsiung when I last visited but again it was too big a piece to buy and try. Luckily in SG, they do sell half loaves version. Decided to get the RedWine Longan as the half loaf wasn’t available for the number 1 winning Lychee bread. The entire taste of the longan bread is just wow! Comprises of walnuts, longans.
Not suitable for anyone concerned with any kind of contamination as this is not a pure veg bakery.
@wiwarungijo is a brand new #Vegetarian Indonesian cuisine cafe slated to open on 23rd July 2019. Warung means a Homely Eating Place and IJO refers to Green, so the Indonesian owners/chefs (both vegetarians for years) hope to provide authentic indonesian veg cuisine for us and those who miss Indonesian food! Most importantly, 85% of their cuisines (including the veg mock used) is #vegan . Everything is #alliumsfree , and we are lucky enough to hear from Boss J that this is just phase 1 of launch, in the next coming months, we will see even more new dishes (Mee soto etc) to be launched. Prices start from $2.90 (sides); $8.90 (mains). They do not charge GST and service charge.
Do check out my IGS and Facebook post for more details of the cafe~ really chic and pretty comfy. Indoor (aircon) and outdoor seating available.
Note that not all dishes are available on first day of launch.
Weakness 101 for me again. If you happen to be in the yellow zone at Chinatown Complex (where sanho is at the next Lorong), do stop by this famous @oldamoychendol that’s currently managed by a really handsome young boss! The Long queue speaks the answer of the yummy chendol. The ingredients are made from scratch and the Gula Melaka, yummmmsss!
Contains of the following ingredients only: Shaven ice, handmade Pandan jelly, cold pressed coconut milk, Japanese azuki beans topped with gula Melaka.

Finally my turn to talk about @sanhogourmet ‘s wanton Mee! Located in the yellow zone of the Chinatown complex, it’s not too hard to locate the stall as it’s also Striking yellow in Color. The Uncle was wrapping wantons when I was there, saw that there’s some minced mushroom mix and mock prawns added into the wantons. There’s various types of wantons available~ including a truffle version that costs $10. I ordered a $3 WTM with extra Chili, a red Chili wantons $4, and a braised raddish $3.
WTM: one of the better ones I’ve had as the noodles were the very thin version yet not overly cooked. I like the chewiness at the end. It’s pretty similar to lotus’s WTM IMO. I only wish they have Mee pok as I’m a mega fan of meepok! The soup is good though. Served with 2 gluten balls and mushroom.
Red Chili Wantons: my fav dish despite the oil, well, 红油 is supposed to be oily to begin with. I like the fragrant of the oil.
Braised Raddish: added with some vinegar and red Chili. Soft and tasty if you are a fan of raddish. I too love to use 羊肚菌 to cook my soup, so they do serve a $20 version if you wish to try as it’s a really expensive Attas ingredient. Unit 02-14
#tutukueh is a popular street snack in Singapore and I always remember queuing for it when there is a Pasar Malam (Night market in sg). It’s basically a steamed cake made with rice flour. The basic ingredients are coconut/chocolate and gula Melaka. There’s a difference between the popular putu piring and tutu kueh. Both are really awesome snacks for Singaporeans.
There’s many famous Brands in sg and even a Street food documentary of our Putu Piring (Haig road) on Netflix.
Best to eat it hot!
Zizai new dishes ~ Nasi Briyani and Penang Prawn Noodles soup. Both are pretty good in my opinion. Like it that the Briyani was actually basmati rice and there’s raisins in the rice! Curry was a little spicy but they actually used monkeyhead mushrooms as the “meat”(may contain dairy/eggs). The prawn noodles on the other hand was a good surprise as it had a strong “pungent” 虾膏 smell when served. Soup was a little spicy and oily but good.
Happy to try new dishes and these 2 didn’t disappoint. Do check with staff if they are #veganfriendly .

by ms veg’s sis. There’s a new veg opening~ pure #vegan soup shop newly opened at fortune centre (2 weeks to date). Stall name is pretty cute 娥妈~ making you think of mum’s #homemade wonders.
Ms veg’s sis had a rojak ($3.80 and add $1 if you only want pure youtiao rojak).
The key players are the soups~ mostly brewed for over 6 hours. Ordered the three beans soup (三豆汤) - costs $6.80 (small)/ $7.80 (medium). Served with rice or noodles. Definitely a yummy choice as the noodles are Chewy and served with braised mushrooms on Top. If you don’t like mock mutton balls (which is also mushroom made), you may request to replace with veg instead.
A good soup for the soul indeed! Great staff service, and fortune centre is just a heaven for all of us #vegetarians . A full day of food trail is not enough!
#Vegsnacks ~ thanks to a fellow VSS member sharing, there’s a Smelly Beancurd #臭豆腐 stall located in Bugis village that’s suitable for vegetarians/vegans. >screenshot of the tofu, Chili questions on alliums answered
Ms veg was having craving since my last 21臭豆腐 in Taiwan... been 6 months! So one fine day I decided to walk from office to Bugis for lunch ~ 6 pcs at $5. The lady mending the stall seemed to know us vegetarians so well! Went for the powder version as it’s #alliumsfree . While it’s not the smelliest tofu I’ve had, its definitely very well fried on the inside and Super soft inside! A good tofu for those who dislike very pungent smells. Not suitable for anyone concerned with any forms of contamination as they do serve other meat items even though the oil for frying is separate.
Collating my pics from Nature Vegetarian delights as I actually went 3 times in a week with different friends. Ordered 3 different types of MLXG 麻辣香锅, and all 3 are good in their own flavors. If you love it numb, you can actually request to increase the numbing factor by adding more 麻椒 (Sichuan peppers I Guess). The price of MLXG costs $2.20/100g, min order $10. We had a Friend who doesn’t really take spicy and the medium level was ok but not too much for him as he turned red pretty quick. I like the hotplate tofu, the mushrooms eel (Super!) and the CKT (Char Kway Tiao) is really good even without eggs, maybe ms veg likes it a little on the sweet side. At approx $12-15 per pax each time, you will definitely feel full with satisfaction. I will want to be back again for other Tze char dishes.
: @elemensg Seasonal Menu for this year’s National Day “Local-licious 享当年” brings us some very Singaporean -local cuisine with a Creative touch to it. Available from 9th July - 31st August 2019, $38.80++/pax. A worthy meal to try this celebratory season, and best thing is almost all the dishes can be veganised (except dessert). Book early esp during the National Day Long weekend as they would be fully booked!
2 Dishes that I would go back for again: Salted egg Popiah and Chili Crab Mantou~ I think Singaporean chefs are really Creative!
Note: 2 new outlets would be opening by end of this month (PLQ -Paya Lebar Quarters; Great World” City) ! Do contact them and check if the seasonal menu would be served there too.
More detailed review available in ms veg’s Facebook post. I had fun meeting up with fellow bloggers/influencers too!
