The Brow was absolutely dominant in his first round matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers. The big man could not be stopped with his ability to stretch out to the three-point line along with his utter tenacity around the rim. In total Davis averaged 33 PPG, 11.8 RPG and 2.8 BPG in the 4-game sweep of a Blazers team that many thought (including us) had a serious chance to make some noise in the Western Conference. And he sent them off on an emphatic note with a 47-point performance in game 4. But while it was a team effort, especially on defense, with Jrue Holliday and Playoff Rondo, Davis was the center-piece that carried his team.
While the Utah Jazz are certainly a well-rounded team, particularly with their defensive prowess, they would be hard-pressed to find consistent buckets in not for rookie Phenom Donovan Mitchell. There has been debate in the regular season as to whether or not the rookie from Louisville should receive the Rookie of the Year award. However, in the first round playoff matchup against the Thunder, Mitchell has proved to be arguably the better rookie. He has the talent to not only knock down crucial three-point baskets, but also attack the basket using his athleticism to finish like an acrobat. All combined, Mitchell has become the 5th leading rookie in terms of scoring in his first 4 playoff games and has averaged 27.5 PPG, 2.8 APG and 8.5 RPG as a guard.
It is almost getting old acknowledging the greatness of the King, but it has to be done. In the first 4 games against the Indiana Pacers, the King has averaged 32.5 PPG, 11.8 RPG, 8 APG and an astonishing 43 MPG. He has carried his team to a 2-2 series split and if not for his otherworldly performance the Cavs may have already been swept. But the amazing part comes from the fact that LeBron is putting up these numbers against one of the more dominant defensive teams in the league as well as one of the best perimeter defenders in Victor Oladipo.
Others: Victor Oladipo, James Harden, DeMar DeRozan and Jaylen Brown.
