Ran my fourth FM at IDBI New Delhi in Feb 2018 where I first BQd by just four seconds (3.44.56). Then ran Berlin in September 2018 (3.36) which got me to Boston this April, where I ran a 3.29. I still have a long way to go. But it's going to take a lot more than sheer hardwork henceforth.
I now know my strengths & weaknesses and the Way Forward. Not subjective but clear objective data. Doing my form analysis and understanding my collision dynamics was an eye opener as I was wondering what my issues were and where to focus for those extra minutes I want to improve.
Whatever I do, I like to do whole heartedly and understanding the basics and being prepared to re learn is important.
It takes several aspects to come together to permit that much desired fluency to our running, and running form is one of these key aspects. It concerns having sufficient Strength & Response Speed (firing) of our nervous system for efficient and coordinated musculo-skeletal movements in line with the laws of physics.
Afterall the litmus test is how the rubber hits the road and not how pretty one looks in running 🙃
Thank you Ash N for pointing me in the right direction.

#marathonlife #runningperu #lifelima42k #BostonMarathon #ChicagoMarathon #maratondesantiago #berlinmarathon #chakirunner
HOW I QUALIFIED FOR BOSTON💙💛
I qualified my 1st time for Boston in 2014. In 2013- I had some health issues & ran half marathons that ranged from 1:55 - 2:05- I was NOT in shape to run a qualifier. Then in Dec. 2013, I decided to get back in the routine of running & committed to running 2 mi everyday for December. Most times it was 10+ min miles on the treadmill. Didn’t matter. I reset my routine & built a base. From there, I qualified for Boston in May 2014 with a 3:28.
Here’s what I did👇🏽
💙I committed to a ROUTINE of running
I did 1 speed workout a week, 1 longrun/tempo with sustained work & then ran mega easy for 3 runs (10 min pace). Training doesn’t have to look insane to bring amazing progress!
💛I got in the LONG work
You HAVE to do sustained pace work. End of story. For me- & a lot of new runners- the sustained stuff is where we are lacking. It’s not enough to do intervals at pace- I think it’s important to do longer workouts (without breaks) at your marathon pace. If you don’t have the strength to hold it for 10+ miles- it’s going to be really tough to hold for 26 miles on race day.
💙I got on a STRENGTH routine
I started going to Barre & doing strength workouts- after ZERO strength prior. I instantly felt a difference. It felt like my arms & core were a participant in my running. Speed felt effortless.
. 💛I BELIEVED.
I knew that BQ was mine. When a coach cautioned me against going for it a week out, I felt bad that he didn’t know to get on my team- because it was ALREADY A DONE DEAL. .
You’re not going to BQ by accident. You have to get a plan. You have to work to strengthen existing weaknesses. You have to put yourself out there & challenge yourself. Don’t just cater to what you’re good at. If you have the speed, but lack the endurance, then put more focus on longer workouts & building strength to hold the speed you have. If you can lock into a pace- then work on lowering your speed threshold. You want to make FAST feel SLOW. You can only do that if you… GET FASTER. Ha. Take a pragmatic approach to training - structuring it based on what YOU need. If you want a BQ- go get it. It’s yours.

Oh, the iconic Citgo sign.
Fenway. Home. The City of Champions. Hard-work. Dedication. The sign’s rich history signifies so much for Bostonians. And for marathoners, it means just one more mile to go.
Looking back, this sign gave me the support I needed to finish strong. 24 miles deep, battling fatigue, cramps and negative self-talk, I saw it off in the distance and was reinvigorated. There was a shift, nostalgic in a way that I was overwhelmed with a sense of ease. I suddenly felt I was getting close. Before then I had many doubts along the way, but then in that moment I was certain. I was where I needed to be. Almost home.
Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve. Thoughts are things. Powerful things! And when mixed with purpose, commitment and burning desire, there is the perfect formula. Be positive. Work hard. See things through. You will never lead yourself wrong.

"Why Do I Run?" - Tara Torres, Many Hopes
I don't typically share my personal life on here too often, so most of you probably don't know I am a Media and Marketing Manager for Trinity Solar. I shot about 50% of this, and edited 100%. While I draw for fun, this is a better look at what I do for my career. Made this for Tara's fundraiser for @many_hopes

Since things have been pretty quiet for me since Boston, I’m excited to get back into racing this Sunday at one of my favorite races, @bostons_runtoremember
!!little throwback to last year when I hit a big PR here...hoping for another great run this weekend 🙌🏼💙
Nově odzkoušené GARMIN hodinky a odtrénováno. Akorát každý vyrazil jinak, takže to nemělo takovou šťávu, kvalitu. Ale někdy si říkáte: ,,Jím dobře? Dělám to dobře? #questions #chi #chirunning #tarahumara #africarunning #beginners #technique #garmin #garminconnect #czechman #asics #nike #underarmour #triatlonnaruzovo #doubts #mind #targets

Day 144/365 Running One More Mile Against MS - ITS A BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND! 🙌 Finally managed to close out some stuff at work today, so that’s dropped the old stress levels and who doesn’t love a 3 day weekend!
Gearing up for J’s first ever race at the Vitality Westminster Mile - he is crazy excited, he keeps telling people it’s finishing at ‘the queens palace’. Really looking forward to pinning his race number on his running shirt tomorrow morning.
Then on Monday, Berlin training begins. Did some more work on my plan tonight, I have worked out various commute runs (I.e. running some of the way to or from work to get more miles in without compromising family time) so am just trying to decide what weekday should be my long run after work, maybe Thursday, will give it some more thought over the weekend.
The picture is of an old sign written street name on Great Portland Street. Am a big fan of old fashioned sign writing, I love that there are still some buildings in London that have the road name painted on. This one could do with refreshing tho...

MP training 🏃🏻♀️ I had 7:27 as my MP target for Boston but I think it was a bit too ambitious goal 😅 also SF marathon will be hilly so lowered my MP goal at 7:35. Todays run was 1WU 6MP (7:27, 7:33, 7:33, 7:33, 7:35, 7:33) 1CD. Pretty consistent but need to slow down a bit more. It’s always good to keep energy for the 2nd half of marathon 👍 happy Friday and almost long weekend 🥰🎉
