I think the most daunting obstacle with any superhero film is assimilating the hero into the real world, the reality of the audience. If we can accept their existence as more than just some miraculous mutation or gifted upbringing, maybe even see ourselves as their character, then we’re in it. In order for there to be investment, there needs to be a connection, trust, and conflict, because the mixture of all of those together breeds hope. In that way, we become super and the superhuman may discover humanity. This film was amazing for several reasons, a large one being its substantial minority representation. I am hooked on these characters and I want to know everything about them. The leader of this story is noble and just, setting a great example for his own future generations, but also for our viewers. The domino effect this movie has had on the positive outlook of present day adolescence is inspiring. From the makeup to wardrobe to new technology, this movie is fascinating from head to toe. It may not have the humor of Ragnarok, but it delivers on every other level.
Shining Star: The women in this film are the glue between the pieces that form Wakanda. Having just as much power and respect as their male counterparts, they sure know how to hold their own.
