✨Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength. —Corrie ten Boom ✨ . ✨I don’t know what tomorrow may hold, for better or for worse, but I do know that when I let my worries and fears get the best me, it drains my happiness for today. Yesterday on my Instagram stories, I shared a piece of me and my family’s struggles due to addiction having its hold on my brother for several years, ultimately leading to his incarceration in federal prison. He is now sober, and about one year out from his release date, and we had the opportunity to visit him yesterday—Dusty and I, Mom and Dad, and Ben’s son, Izayah. (Will share our family photo when we receive it!) It warmed my heart to see Izayah light up instantaneously as we walked in, and my brother pick him up and hug him so tightly. Ben is now in a drug program and I am amazed at how much he is learning about himself, and how open and honest he has been with all of us. He’s got hopes and dreams for a bright future as a new person, and most importantly, he has come to know Christ again. My heart is so full from the overflow of messages of love and support I’ve received in the past two days after sharing this. It’s not always easy to open up and be transparent on social media, but it’s so worth it when we can connect, share our struggles, and heal together. I don’t know what tomorrow holds for Ben, or for any of us, but I don’t worry, because my Faith is bigger than my Fear. God will guide! I love you all so much, and I’ve been praying hard for those of you sharing similar struggles. My advice is to be a lighthouse for those lost in darkness. Show nothing but love, and give it to God. 🌟Pizza Night🌟 Repost @foodsinmykitchen . Homemade, gluten-free quinoa pizza with a crunch, & grounding toppings which has made this pizza my favorite.😋 Where should I start - the crust or the toppings? OK, I will start with the toppings, because the crust recipe is below.👍 The kick-ass topping is, if you can believe it, baked butternut squash! Love it!👌 I baked the whole organic butternut squash at 400°F for about 40 to 50 min, then mashed the desired amount (& chopped it’s peel). Added generous amount of this baked squash on the baked pizza crust, & topped with more goodies such as onions, bell peppers, kale, mushrooms, & some fresh tomatoes.🍅 Once out of the oven, I topped it with some fresh basil, & a bit more onion (kinda love onion). . Here's the pizza crust recipe: 1 Cup Quinoa (dry) 1 Cup Filtered Water 1 to 3 Garlic cloves 1 Tsp Himalayan Salt 1 Tsp Dried Thyme 1 Tsp Dried Basil 1 Tbsp Dried Oregano 1 Tsp Onion Powder 1/2 Tsp Baking Soda (optional) Loving Preparation: 1) Preheat oven to 425°F. 2) Add everything, except the herbs, to your high speed blender, & blend to smoothness. Once smooth, add in the Thyme, Basil, & Oregano, & stir. 3) Pour this batter onto a parchment lined paper, & spread evenly - being careful not to spread too thin or too thick. 4) Bake it in the oven for about 15min, or until the top is golden brown. 5) Once golden brown, flip the crust, & remove the parchment paper, & bake the other side directly on the oven rack until golden brown. 6) Lower heat to 400°F. 7) Add your favorite toppings (do try the baked squash!), & bake for 5 to 8 minutes - until veggies are baked to your satisfaction. Enjoy the delicious crunch & wonderful flavors!💖 . Note: If you do not have a high speed blender, simply soak the quinoa for few hours, & add less water while blending.
Plant Powered Potachos 💥 When you want nachos and want to avoid the oil and salt - baked up some spiced potato rounds and load them with all the goods (seasoned tempeh, black beans, corn, tomatoes, olives and my homemade vegan queso) 😍 I try my best to keep the oil and salt out of the kitchen - the oil is pure fat with high calories and low volume ( this equals a less full belly and a higher chance of over eating) and the salt is intoxicating - it can make the ickiest foods taste good, which can also cause over eating , not to mention the dehydration it produces 👎 I love eating raw foods , but when I choose to enjoy more cooked foods a giant salad (or in most cases a bunch of plain romaine ) helps me get my water needs met , plus lots of happy raw enzymes 😋 #nachos #plantpowered #saltfree #oilfree >>> photo bomb by Charlie our visiting dog pal from last night ♥️

i’m not going to lie, going into unfamiliar territory can be terrifying. there’s something about being thrown into a foreign space that can fill a person with self doubt even in the most idyllic places on earth. and that’s okay! of all the lessons i’ve learned traveling alone - learning to embrace that doubt with full force and enjoy the ride anyways is the most valuable. after the initial shock, even the strangest of places can feel like home. so even though i’m camped out in a jungle filled with scary spiders and centipedes and unfamiliar faces, this little island has me enchanted🌸 can’t wait to see where this adventure takes me...✨

When you are going through a hard time, the path isn’t always so easy to see and clear. Sometimes change, and sometimes growth feels like a setback. Sometimes it isn’t what you imagined at all. Sometimes it’s the very last thing you would like to be doing, but necessary to grow. Growth IS painful. Growing to new dimensions of ourselves and pursuing what we REALLY want in life is not easy. Im currently working towards that, and deep within I know the answers of where Im going as painful as it is to heal so isolated and far from everything. If we can just stay true to our visions and what we hold for ourselves, we will undoubtedly get there. Im finding that no matter what you can heal no matter the circumstance, where you are, or from what’s happening around you. I also know from this experience that no matter what comes my way, I will have the patience to wait it out, the discernment to know better, and the wisdom for the why. Thank you living in isolation for teaching me these deeply valuable core values, im no where near being out of the woods yet because of what Im working towards, but Im grateful for where its brought me so far. Everything changes and Nothing stays the same, and nothing lasts forever🌟🌟🌟 Oh and I totally had to make me one of @holistic_and_hopeful bowls tonight!😋
